Date Movie, bad date spots

When couples pick a movie to see together, they inevitably run into the same problem over and over again:

Men and women rarely like the same type of movies.

"Date Movie," a spoof in the vein of "Scary Movie," is an attempt at a happy and hilarious medium between the stereotypical tastes of girls (romance, happy endings, etc.) and guys (gross-out humor, action, etc.).

Julia Jones (Alyson Hannigan, playing a combo of Julia Roberts and Bridget Jones) goes through an extreme makeover and meets the man of her dreams. Unfortunately for her, he’s not what her ethnically diverse family had in mind. To find true love, she’ll have to "Kill Bill," "Meet the Parents," deal with "The Wedding Planner" and "My Best Friend’s Wedding" all on her way to her own "Big Fat Greek Wedding." Also spoofed are "Napoleon Dynamite," "Hitch," "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," "King Kong" and about a million other movies.

What remains to be seen, however, is how "Date Movie" ranks as a date movie. It’s surely safe for a couple that has been together awhile, but what about a first date? Is the movie a surefire start to a long-term relationship or an automatic strike three, delete-the-number-from-the-cell-phone disaster?
