THEN Made librarians (and The WB) cool on ’Buffy the Vampire Slayer’

Anthony Stewart Head was thrilled about one thing after Buffy the Vampire Slayer bit the dust in 2003 - his 6,000-mile commute was finally over. The British actor thwarted demons as rumpled librarian Rupert Giles for seven seasons while pond-hopping between his family’s home outside London and Slayer’s Los Angeles set. ’’On one trip home my youngest daughter, Daisy, looked at me and said, ’Wow, you’ve been away almost half my life,’’’ says Head.

But genre fans rejoice; Head hasn’t totally abandoned the world of the occult. Besides popping up on the current BBC sketch comedy show Little Britain (’’It kind of takes over where The Office left off’’) and 2004’s little-seen Fat Slags (’’Not a great film’’), he signed on last year to host the supernatural-themed series True Horror, which, for the moment, has no U.S. air date. ’’I thought I’d be in a studio like Leonard Nimoy on In Search Of...,’’ says the 51-year-old. ’’Instead, they flew me to Haiti for an episode on zombies and the camera crew got kidnapped.’’ Just when you thought it was safe to travel without a slayer...
