Amy Acker to guest star on ’Mother’ finale

Former Angel star and current Alias bad girl Amy Acker will get to lighten up a bit come May, when she appears on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother.

Ms. Acker is scheduled to guest star in the comedy’s first-season finale as a woman who had a fling with Barney (Neil Patrick Harris).

Her character also has a knowledge of American Indian rituals, which comes into play in the episode - and that’s all we feel we can say at the moment.

Her guest appearance will reunite her with another former denizen of the Buffyverse, Mother star Alyson Hannigan.

Alexis Denisof, another Angel regular (and Ms. Hannigan’s husband), will also appear in the season finale.

And we can say "season finale" with confidence, as CBS earlier this week picked up How I Met Your Mother for 2006-07.

’Apprentice’ alum

will join CNBC

The end of The Apprentice last December didn’t go the way Rebecca Jarvis would have hoped, as she was essentially "fired" by last season’s winner, Randal Pinkett.

Ms. Jarvis is joining cable network CNBC next month. The 24-year-old, who listed her occupation as "financial journalist" on the NBC show, will continue that career path by becoming an associate reporter at the business-news network, doing everything from reporting her own stories to helping out on the assignment desk.

"Rebecca has shown herself to be an intelligent, poised, inquisitive individual with a keen interest in business reporting," says David Friend, senior vice president for business news at CNBC. "She achieved a great deal at a young age and impressed everyone here."

Ms. Jarvis, a University of Chicago graduate, has written freelance stories for Business 2.0 and Crain’s Chicago Business. She’s also worked as an investment banker.
