Buffy reboot dead in the water ? Vanessa Hudgens turned down the role

Thursday 17 June 2010, by Webmaster

VANESSA Hudgens has turned down the chance to team up with Sarah Michelle Gellar and bring Buffy the Vampire Slayer back from the dead.

The High School Musical star — who’s currently dating hunky actor Zac Efron – was approached by producers to work alongside Gellar in a big screen reboot of the hit TV show but, according to movie insiders, Vanessa wasn’t interested.

“She felt that with Twlight still so massive Buffy would not be the best option right now,” says one source.

“The idea was to have Sarah back but with Vanessa as a fresh, new character. The project has been shelved for now.”

  • OMG ! I guess she was too much in high school (musical !) and never watched an episode from Buffy. Buffy is different and better than this Twilight ###### crap ! He miss Hudgens, Spike doesn’t sparkle ! She’s a bad actress anyways, bring SMG and James Marsters back and all the others please !
    • Hudgens was correct. Buffy when you get down to it, is the same as Twilight. Girl has two superpowered older guys who look young fight over her.

The only real option for a Buffy movie is to take Buffy into her thirties — where she’s too old to have never-aging, superpowered beings fight over her and she’s of little interest for commitment by the type of men she ignored when she was hot.

That’s interesting — like the Star Trek movies dealing with Kirk’s aging and limits to being the swashbuckling Captain.
