Sarah Michelle Gellar’s new movie, The Grudge, is hardly a change of direction for the actress who fought vampires and various other nasties in Buffy The Vampire Slayer for years.

The Grudge sees her as a social worker who enters a house and gets touched by a curse leading to all manner of supernatural shenanigans.

On her choice of roles Gellar explains: "I like movies that stick with you. And I like characters where women get to do something, where women are active, where women drive a story. And this is a genre where women get the opportunity to really do that."
