CREATION : A Clown Show (eliza dushku mention)

Saturday 8 July 2006, by Webmaster

New York: Get ready to experience the hippest, edgiest, funniest and most original solo clown show this side of Pluto. OBIE Winner/Producer Ty Jones & Producer Jill Jones of Gussy Charles Productions proudly present a limited 6-week engagement of CREATION: A Clown Show, created and performed by Lucas Caleb Rooney, and created and directed by OBIE Winner Orlando Pabotoy. Performances will run from August 4th, 2006 to September 10th, 2006 at Theater Five (311 W. 43rd St.) in NYC. Previews begin August 4th for an August 10th opening. To view a trailer of the show or for more info visit www.creationclownshow.com.

CREATION, a solo clown show in the tradition of Harpo Marx and Bill Irwin, is a physically raucous, delightful romp through the world of the clown, where the silly is celebrated and the simple is beautiful. Embracing make-believe and magic, and returning one to a world of wonder, CREATION offers a hilarious new view of that old book known as Genesis. With rare crossover appeal, adults will love this edgy show, while kids will run to tell their friends about the funniest guy since Homer Simpson. CREATION features original music (ukulele included) conceived and performed by Peter Friedland and Javen Tanner. No knowledge of English necessary to enjoy the show.

Creator/Actor Lucas Caleb Rooney has performed on Broadway in Jack O’Brien’s production of Henry IV and was Brian O’Byrne’s understudy in Doubt at MTC. He has also performed at the Pittsburgh Public in Dirty Blonde, at the Irish Rep in She Stoops To Conquer and at the Old Globe Theatre in Complete Female Stage Beauty (Mark Lamos) and Twelfth Night (Jack O’Brien). He is currently shooting the feature film On Broadway, starring opposite Amy Poehler, Eliza Dushku and Will Arnett. Lucas teaches Clown at The Actors Center and assists Christopher Bayes at the Yale School of Drama.

Director/Creator Orlando Pabotoy is an OBIE Award Winner who has created and staged shows for the Ma-Yi Theater Company, Julliard Drama Division and NYU. He is Head of Movement Training MFA Acting at Cal State Long Beach, on faculty at UCSD and has instructed at The Public Theater’s Shakespeare Summer Lab and NYU Tisch School for the Arts. He is a graduate of the Julliard School and the recipient of a Fox Fellowship and John Houseman Award.

Producer Ty Jones is an OBIE Award Winner (Genet’s The Blacks) and a three time AUDELCO Award Nominee. He has appeared on Broadway in Judgment at Nuremberg, Henry IV and Julius Caesar. His screenplay, Emancipation, was a finalist in the Sundance Feature Film Institute Program and its theatrical adaptation will premiere this year at the Classical Theatre of Harlem. TimeOut NY dubbed Ty as "One of 25 ace New Yorkers to keep an eye on" in 2006.
