"Road trip to Kiel - Her Minor Thing

"What would you do to get what you want? Well, I drove about 560 miles to see “Her Minor Thing” with Christian Kane on the big screen. And just to mention it - every single mile was worth it!

One morning I was checking my e-mail account and found a mail from one of my best friends. Subject: Friday road trip! Are you in? And the information that next Friday there will be an airing of Her Minor Thing and it’s supposed to be the one and only showing in Germany. Location: A cinema in Kiel...damn it. Kiel really isn’t just around the corner... I really tried hard to convince myself not to go...well, now writing this report I realise - I failed...absolutely!!

I started my road trip on Friday morning towards Bielefeld where my friend lives. After meeting her at her workplace we headed on to Kiel. Listening to KANE music and looking forward to seeing the movie our mood was getting better and better. Even some traffic jam couldn’t make us feel stressed as soon as we realised that despite this we would make it in time.

The place where the cinema is located is called TraumGmbH. It’s a large old building including the cinema, a restaurant and two areas where concerts or special events take place.

The atmosphere is nice and special. Oh, and they have small yellow ducks in their flowerpots...that reminds me of...damn it, don’t get it!^^

Ok, after enjoying tasty pizza it was time to enter the cinema. At the entrance we noticed that we were not the only “crazy” fans...sheepie made her way from Berlin too. Greetings to you girl, it was really nice to meet you there. We had a nice and funny talk and soon we decided that KANE fans seem to be the craziest and most loyal fans ever since no Michael Weatherly fan showed up. Go Kane fans!!!

But now, lets talk about the movie! I don’t wanna give you a full insight of it just as much as they already announced.

Her Minor Thing” is a romantic comedy about a successful 25-year-old professional woman whose life turns chaotic when her boyfriend accidentally reveals on TV that she’s a virgin. Suddenly every guy in the city is after her, women urge revenge over the boyfriend’s blunder, and males and females square off in a comic Battle of the Sexes that goes way too far. It all forces her to reevaluate her romantic ideals about love and men.

The heroine is a true romantic. Will she still believe in love after all this?

In my opinion they put a perfect cast together :

Jeana - Estella Warren (“Kangaroo Jack”,”The cooler”)

Paul, Tom’s cameraman and the new sexy guy in town - Christian Kane (Well, I think I don’t have to mention where we know him from!)^^

Tom, Jeana’s boyfriend - Michael Weatherly (“Navy NCIS”, “Dark Angel”)

Caroline, Jeana’s friend and roommate - Rachel Dratch (“Saturday Night Live”)

Marty, Tom’s friend - Flex Alexander (“One on One”, “She’s All That”)

Zsa Zsa, Tom’s former Russian girlfriend - Ivana Milicevic (“Love Actually”, “Vanilla Sky”, “BTVS”)

Maggie, psychic attorney - Kathy Griffin (“Suddenly Susan”, “The D List”)

Norma, travel agent - Victoria Jackson (“Saturday Night Live”)

This cast and the absolute comprehensible storyline are making the movie to a real delight. The funny and relaxed dialogs are amazing and pure fun to watch which is a great compliment - from me - since I am used to Joss Whedon’s great and fantasic sense of humor. There are no “forced” jokes. The comic comes from the situation itself and the relaxed and harmonic collaboration between the actors helps you to get into the story. For me of cause Christian Kane was the absolute high light. He proves that he is also good in playing the nice man not just the bad boy. To see him as a leading character in a romantic comedy is really fantastic. You get a lot to see...and girls...when I say a lot...I really mean A LOT !! I also loved to see him wearing his own clothes and stuff I knew from the acoustic gigs in London and Germany.

But also Michael Weatherly and Estella Warren carried conviction in their roles and Kathy Griffin as psychotic attorney and Victoria Jackson as travel agent made me split my sides.

Additionally, Rachel Dratch shows the perfect mix of cynism, comic and reality and I think some divorced women can find herself in one or another scene. ^^

All in all I can say...it was a great movie and for me a fantastic road trip to Kiel.
