Dark Horse Reveals Buffy The Vampire Slayer Collection Plans

Sunday 18 December 2011, by Webmaster

Hey, do you like to get excited about cool things that you won’t be able to purchase for eight months? Well, you’ve come to the right blog post: Today Dark Horse announced firm plans for both the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 hardcovers, and the first collection of the comic’s latest volume, the now three issues-old Buffy Season 9.

As blogged about earlier in the week, the first volume of the “deluxe, oversized, dust-jacketed” season eight collections will be out on May 30, 2012. It’ll contain the first 10 issues of the series that started back in 2007 (I know, right?), and “includes two one-shots, a cover gallery, and exclusive, never-before-seen sketch material!” And yes, as noted by Graeme, a cover featuring Buffy sporting her own logo. Hey, it’s iconic typography to be proud of!

And if you’re trade-waiting the current run, here’s good news, sort of: The first collected edition of that is scheduled for release on Aug. 2, 2012. That’ll collect the first five issues, written by Andrew Chambliss and Buffy creator Joss Whedon, with art once again from Georges Jeanty. No word yet on when to expect the first Angel & Faith collection, but based on that release schedule, probably not any time too soon.

In a related-ish note, Season 9 #4 is out on Dec. 16. Here’s the solicitation info:

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER SEASON 9 #4

Andrew Chambliss (W), Georges Jeanty (P/Variant cover), Dexter Vines (I), Michelle Madsen (C), and Steve Morris (Cover)

On sale Dec 14 - FC, 32 pages - $2.99 - Ongoing

As Xander, Dawn, and Willow retreat into their own complicated lives, Buffy finds herself drawn more closely to her new friend Severin, a mysterious crime fighter in his own right, and a snappy dresser to boot. Together they take on a new kind of vampire threat while Buffy’s not-in-the-know roomies start snooping through her unslept-in bedroom. Now what could they possibly find?

• Vampires, demons, corpses, and cops!
