Dimension Films has acquired "Buried Alive," a horror pic from f/x maven Robert Kurtzman.

Kurtzman helmed "Wes Craven’s Wishmaster" and was a visual effects supervisor on genre pics including "Hostel" and "The Rage." He also was a scribe on Robert Rodriguez’s "From Dusk Till Dawn."

Tobin Bell ("Saw") and Terence Jay star in the pic, which is close to completion, insiders said; Art Monterastelli penned the screenplay.

Story centers on a sorority hazing ritual that takes students to an abandoned house; it also involves "an empty coffin, a fatal curse and a ghost who seeks vengeance on his family’s bloodline."

Deborah Del Prete and Gigi Pritzker produced via the Dark Lot Entertainment arm of their Odd Lot Entertainment shingle.

Company also has produced "Suburban Girl," an adaptation of Melissa Bank’s "The Girls’ Guide to Hunting and Fishing" starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and set for a June release.
