Last week we passed along Fox Home Entertainments messages from Twitter about the October 12th release date of Dollhouse - Season 2 on both DVD and Blu-ray Disc. Fox also tweeted pictured of the package art for each version, which we show you again below. That’s all the info we had at the time, but now the studio has provided retailers with the remaining details of this title!

Our retail contacts confirm the date, and Amazon’s prices as well: $49.98 SRP for the DVD (CA$59.98 SRP in Canada) and $59.99 SRP for the Blu-ray version (CA$69.99 SRP in Canada). The DVD set comes on 4 discs, with widescreen video, English 5.1 Dolby Digital audio and subtitles in English, French and Spanish. The BD version comes on 3 discs, with high-def widescreen video, English 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio, and subtitles in English, French and Spanish.

Bonus material on both versions includes Outtakes, Deleted Scenes, "Defining Moments", "Looking Back" and Audio Commentary on 2 episodes: a "Vows" commentary by show creator Joss Whedon, and also a "Belonging" commentary by writers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. Exclusive to the Blu-ray release is an additioanl Audio Commentary, on "Getting Closer" by exec producer and episode-writer Tim Minear.

The show revolves around a corporation running numerous underground establishments (known as "Dollhouses") across the globe which program individuals referred to as Actives (or Dolls) with temporary personalities and skills. Wealthy clients hire Actives from Dollhouses at great expense for various purposes. The series primarily follows the Active known as Echo, played by Eliza Dushku (who also served as producer), on her journey towards self-awareness.
