Eliza Dushku - "Alien" Movie Prequel - She is MTV’s choice

Wednesday 5 August 2009, by Webmaster

All of us here at MTV are excited for Ridley Scott’s "Alien" prequel. The director hasn’t had anything to do with the series since the 1979 original, which is a bonafide classic. To honor Scott and his lasting contribution to badass women in film, we’ve paired up the lovely duo of MTV contributor Jenni Miller and Photoshop ninja/digital producer Sohyung Kang to produce a magical list of five leading ladies who could rock Ripley.

Although there aren’t any hard and fast deets out there concerning Ridley Scott’s prequel to "Alien," I’ve got my fingers crossed for a female badass to rival the Sigourney Weaver’s iconic Ripley. Since Weaver has stated publicly she doesn’t think Ripley could be part of an "Alien" prequel, I have a few suggestions as to who could fulfill the role of cinema’s favorite alien-killing, kitty-saving, space-feminist.

From "Buffy" to "Dollhouse," Eliza Dushku has become one of my favorite young actresses. She can pull off both emotional performances and action, as proven in her latest incarnation as Echo, the evolving doll in the Joss Whedon’s sci-fi TV series. Plus, she packs an amazing set of guns and says that thanks to her nonstop training for her role as Echo in "Dollhouse," she could hold her own in a fight. And, uh, she had a pet python as a kid. In fact, she told one mag, "I own my own bow and arrow and last Christmas while hunting in Colorado, I shot an elk. In other words, I eat what I kill." Oh, and she likes video games too. Any questions?
