Eliza Dushku - "Mapplethorpe Biopic" Movie - She is developing this movie with his brother

Monday 19 January 2009, by Webmaster

Eliza Dushku has more going on than just her much-talked-about starring role in television guru Joss Whedon’s new upcoming series, Dollhouse.

The Bring It On beauty just told me she’s co-producing a movie about the life of Robert Mapplethorpe, the late photographer who caused national headlines with his controversial homoerotic work.

"Literally this week after quite some time, we finalized the deal with the Mapplethorpe estate," Dushku told me at Gatorade’s G-Gym at Sundance’s Village at the Yard.

Dushku’s brother, Nate, will star as Mapplethorpe, who died of AIDS in 1989 at age 42.

"Nate physically has an uncanny resemblance to Robert," Dushku said. "Some pictures are really eerie."

Other Sundancing celebrity highlights include:

Jim Carrey celebrated his birthday at 50 Cent’s Vitaminwater house party on Saturday night. The hip-hop star brought the funnyman onstage for his performance of "In Da Club (It’s Your Birthday)" during his midnight show. Also there were E! reality stars Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, Wesley Snipes and Cuba Gooding Jr.

Michael Cera proved to be a selfless celebrity. He refused swag at the Fred Segal gifting suite but made an appearance so Charlyne Yi, his co-star in Paper Heart, could grab some goodies.

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, on the other hand, made off with freebies from Spyder, K-Swiss, Nightcap, Magaschoni Cashmere and RetroSport.

Paris Hilton, of course, proved to be the Park City party princess. On Saturday night alone, she was spotted at the 50 Cent bash, Hyde and a soiree for Kutcher and Anne Heche’s flick Spread, where the hotel heiress downed some Le Tourment Vert absinthe.

Newish couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt may have walked hand-in-hand into the Spring Breakdown party at the T-Mobile Diner, but they kept a safe distance during the evening because, I’m told, they didn’t want to be photographed together.

Vogue editrix Anna Wintour came west to attend the premiere of the fashion bible’s documentary, The September Issue. "There are times when she really comes off like a b*tch," one premiere-goer tells me. "The audience was howling and even Anna was laughing out."
