Eliza Dushku - "On Broadway" Movie wins major award at Galway Film Fleadh

Sunday 22 July 2007, by Webmaster

DUBLIN. Lord Mayor Paddy Bourke, joined by Dublin business leaders and artists, welcomes Director Dave McLaughlin to Ireland at a Mansion House reception. McLaughlin presents gifts from Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Red Sox CEO Larry Lucchino, as well as book on Irish art published by Boston College’s McMullen Museum, and shares stories about the film with those in attendance. It’s a great evening, full of new connections, and marked by a sense of excitement for the Galway Film Fleadh screening...

GALWAY - award!! Two days later, Irish and European audiences embrace ON BROADWAY, casting their votes for the movie to receive special recognition. At Sunday night’s awards ceremony, ON BROADWAY wins one of the two awards given in the Best First Feature Category, which celebrates exciting new voices in international cinema. It is the only American movie to receive an award from the film fleadh!

Quick recap now...

Boston, April. Sold out screenings, two thousand people, extended standing ovations.

New Jersey, June. Five award nominations: Best Film, Best Actor (Joey McIntyre), Best Director, and two nominations for Best Supporting Actor (Lance Greene and Sean Lawlor).

Michigan, June. People from all different backgrounds stop us on the street to tell us how ON BROADWAY moved them. This issue’s "New Video" story has a link to clips with their comments.

Now, from the west coast of Europe to the west coast of America, where ON BROADWAY will open the Wine Country Film Festival TONIGHT, the buzz is building about this heartwarming story of a carpenter who picks up a pen and uses it to build bridges among the people he loves.

THE BERKSHIRES Special screening to benefit the Chester Theatre Company, Main Street Motion Media, and the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Public Charter School. Friday July 27, 7 pm at The Academy of Music in Northampton, Massachusetts.
