Entering sweeps, TV offers wonderful surprises

Saturday 25 October 2003

Thursday

"Friends" won’t go away, and millions of people don’t seem to mind. But I like "Scrubs" a lot more, and "Friends" is a pleasant enough lead-in. Trouble is, "Tru Calling," which premieres Thursday, intrigues me enough that I want to see more.

OK, OK, Eliza Dushku intrigues me enough that I want to see more. Whatever. Still one show too many.

I’ve finally come around to watching "CSI : Crime Scene Investigation" and checking out "Will & Grace" once in a blue moon ; as for "Coupling," which NBC yanked from the November sweeps schedule, I’d rather change the litter box, and I don’t own a cat.

I used to think that no matter how bad "ER" got, I’d still watch. Let me amend : I’ll still tape. "Without a Trace" just gets better and better. "ER," sadly, does not.

Old habits are hard to break, and "ER’s" one of my oldest. But times change, and so do channels. Cue up the TiVo.
