Gwinnett Local Actor, Ken Feinberg, to Guest at Sci-Fi Summer Con on June 16-18 (buffy mention)

ATLANTA (June 6, 2006)-It’s time for all fanboys (and girls) to dust off their rayguns and put the finishing touches on their superhero costumes as the 6th Annual Sci-Fi Summer Con rolls in to the Holiday Inn Airport North, 1380 Virginia Avenue, Friday through Sunday, June 16-18, 2006. Event attendees can engage in convention activities, such as discussing the details of the demise of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly, from 6:00 p.m. on Friday through 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Sci-Fi Summer Con, The Official Start of Georgia Summer Fandom, is a science fiction and fantasy convention featuring literary and media panel discussions, celebrity Q&A’s, 24-hour gaming (including classic video arcade games), live musical and theatrical performances, film screenings, costume contests, outdoor activities, an art show, a dealer’s room and much, much more! Sci-Fi Summer Con memberships cost $30 at the door (kids under 12 get in free). Friday only passes cost $15 at the door, while Saturday or Sunday only passes cost $20 each. Memberships grant attendees access to all events, activities and contests, in addition to a con suite featuring free snacks and sodas.

Offering something for everyone, panel discussions range in topic from science-fiction and fantasy to anime and costuming. Special guests offering their two cents include directors Michael DeMeritt and David Winning, authors Jana Oliver and Julie Cochrane, and media celebrities including Gwinnett resident Ken Feinberg who portrayed the "Chaos Demon" in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode "Fool for Love" and the "Alien Captain" in Star Trek Enterprise’s episode “Horizon”. Feinberg also acted as "Mr. Sark’s Driver" on Alias and "Demon in Black" on Charmed.

Live performances include theatrical drama and comedy by the Atlanta Radio Theater Company (ART C), and musical fun by the sci-fi cover band Hyperdrive, performing songs like “David Duchovny” by Bree Sharp and “Mr. Spock” by Nerf Herder. Screenings come in the forms of feature-length films, indie films, shorts, movie trailers, television episodes and cartoons.

Proving that costumes aren’t just for Halloween anymore, Sci-Fi Summer Con hosts two costume contests: Hallway (any theme, worn throughout the Con) and Retro Rockets (film, tv, literature and comics themes from the 1970’s and earlier). Weather permitting, the Con also boasts laser tag tournaments, super soaker duels, Nerf gun wars, boffer battles, CD discus and other outrageous outdoor activities, in addition to refreshing “dive-in” movies. And no convention would be complete without gaming! Sci-Fi Summer Con boasts tabletop gaming including miniatures, board and specialty games, in addition to its signature, throw-back, classic video arcade featuring stand-up, arcade style games and pinball machines-all set on free play-all weekend long!!!
