Auditioned for roles on Joss Whedon’s other shows, but was never cast until she auditioned for his show ’Dollhouse’. She auditioned for "Buffy" five times and was one of the finalists for the role of Kaylee on "Firefly", the role that eventually went to Jewel Staite.

She was a popular teen model and has appeared on the covers of Harper’s Bazaar, Seventeen and Teen Magazine. She also had the opportunity to work with photographer Bruce Weber.

Her mother is of Filipina and Scottish descent. Her mother was a lead dancer on the television show "Fantasy Island" and was the lead vocalist in a performance group.
