Charisma Carpenter

OK, a very good friend of mine has seen Charisma Carpenter’s PLAYBOY photos (which apparently is going to be in the June issue, moved up from the July issue), and here is what she/he said (he/she works for PLAYBOY, and I have to protect his/her identity).

Of all the celebrity photos the magazine has done in recent years, these are probably the least salacious. They are more like tasteful near-nudes than anything especially revealing. There are no full frontal shots without underwear. My friend said her hair is slightly longer, but he/she didn’t see "You’re Welcome" so couldn’t say if her hair was longer than in that episode. The level of nudity is far lower than in Daryl Hannah’s photos.

So, not a great deal of nudity, but she/he did say that Charisma looks spectacular. Overall the effect is less out and out sexy than some of the bikini shots she did in her pre-Buffy career. None of the poses are at all provocative or at all sexual. Just Charisma looking gorgeous with minimal clothing.

To speak the truth, I’m greatly relieved by this. I really didn’t want what a former colleague liked to call a "one-handed photospread." I’m still a bit uneasy that she is doing the photoshoot at all, but all in all it doesn’t sound in bad taste. My friend said the cover shot for the magazine is especially nice.
