J.J. Abrams on Today’s Abrams-Whedon Match-up

Thursday 22 July 2010, by Webmaster

One of the most anticipated panels at this year’s Comic-Con has got to be the J.J. Abrams-Joss Whedon summit taking place at 3:30 this afternoon in Hall H of the Convention Center (the most exciting team-up since, well, since last year’s Peter Jackson-James Cameron panel). I just spoke with none other than Abrams himself about today’s event. Find out what he told me about his relationship with Whedon after the jump.

"We met," said Abrams, "while working at the WB at the same time; while he was doing Buffy and Angel and I was doing Felicity. So we met way back when. We’ve been in touch and we’ve worked with some of the same people – David Fury and Jeff Bell and Drew Goddard are people with whom we’ve both worked. Drew wrote Cloverfield and did, with Joss, Cabin in the Woods. So there’s been a lot of sort of one degree of separation in that regard. But we’ve gone to dinner and we’re very friendly. I guess because of our schedules we don’t see each other too often, but he’s always been a friend."

As for what today’s panel will entail, Abrams is as curious as anyone.

"I’m thrilled to hear what he has to say. I have no idea what the panel’s going to entail, but I was very flattered to be asked to be a part of it. I’d like to see what kind of questions are asked."
