James Marsters Cancels GOTR Concert at Vulkon SlayerCon Oakland

Tuesday 15 June 2004, by Webmaster

A personal Note from James Marsters to SlayerCon attendees...

Dear Fans of Vulkon SlayerCon Oakland:

I wanted to send a special message to my fans who will be attending the SlayerCon in Oakland, California, August 28-29. Ghost of the Robot will not be appearing at this event, however, I will be there for BOTH days to take photos with you, sign autographs and do two Q&A’s. I appreciate your understanding about the changes with the band and look forward to seeing you all in Oakland.

James Marsters

So, in the best tradition of Hollywood "The Show Must Go On" and James will definitely be attending the Oakland event, and as a matter of fact has graciously agreed to do two Q&A sessions, so will be speaking now on Saturday as well! (Note that does not change the autograph sessions or any other event times).

However, it does leave us with an opening for another band to play on Saturday night. And what better band to fill those huge vacant shoes that GHOST left behind, than with Common Rotation and one more "special band" *! Yes a dual-concert by two amazingly talented bands!

*(Please note: Another awesome band has been invited but we are still working out those negotiations and cannot announce who it is until we have a signed agreement. An official announcement will be made online this weekend at www.vulkon.com).

Plus I am working on another amazing band for the Friday night concert (since Common Rotation will now appear on Saturday night), and we have another very "special band" in mind!

We will announce all changes (and the new band) online by this weekend if possible!

Note: If you have already ordered concert tickets... When the new bands are announced, if you are happy with the changes - do nothing and your current tickets will just transfer to the new concert(s). On the other hand, if you have already bought tickets and want to make any changes to your existing order, please email us at VULKON@aol.com within the next 30 days and let us know. Make sure to include your name and badge or seat number with your email, so we may best assist you.

If you have not yet ordered concert tickets, we will announce the new band line-up this weekend, and start taking new orders.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in making this a smooth change for all.

  • Actually, the rest of the band has handled James’ dissolution of the band without consulting them very maturely. Charlie released a very poignant statement on his official site and on the two main GotR message boards and no one else has said anything about how they feel in a public way. I think that given the way things went down, nothing ill can or should be said about either Charlie, Steve, Kevin, or Sean.
