James Marsters Is Recording A Solo Album

Wednesday 20 October 2004, by Webmaster

Furthermore, James Marsters is back in the recording studio and working on a new solo album which should be ready for release early in the new year. I’ll keep you all posted. The plan is to have 10 new songs on the album, of which James will have written 9 of them.

Note from Buffy.nu : But why did he leave Ghost Of The Robot ???? :-(

Come on, plenty of artists leave their groups to pursue solo careers, it’s not that weird. I just hope his album’s good.

I don’t think it’s fair to say he did it out of conceit. I believe he quit the band because he wasn’t going to have time to tour and record with his Macbeth project in the works.

The guys were rightfully upset and disappointed, but they each had fans of their own and they could have found a new lead singer if they really wanted...probably someone with as much stage presence and good-looks as James. But they eventually split too. Charlie reformed Power Animal, leaving Steve to pursue Gods of the Radio alone. I’m sure there was a reason for that as well, I just don’t know it.

I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt until I’ve heard both sides. It’s just in my nature to think the best of people.

Also, James seems like the kind of person who can’t be idle for too long. Once his Macbeth thing fell through, he probably needed another creative outlet for his energy. Writing and recording songs was probably the next best thing.

Let’s not forget everything he did in the beginning to help the band get started. He might not have been the most talented among the group, but he put up his own money to produce their first album.

A little respect people, and a little less name-calling.

Very well-said, kile. Do we know for sure that the Macbeth project has fallen through? I remember him saying that it would take a while to be written and produced, approximately 3 years if I recall correctly. He’s bound to do other projects in that time period. He has to keep his face and his name out there so he doesn’t lose too much momentum.

HAHAHA I knew it. I really hope people are gonna realize what kind of a person he is and what a bunch of crap he thru in every single one of our faces. I mean, saying you wanna quit cause you don’t have time and feel ’bad’ with so awfully talented musicans on stage and then do a solo thing is horrible. I’ll write more when the ’official comment’ is out. PS. I love Gwen’s solo thing. heh

I hate to say it, but do we know this is true ? And if it’s true... What do people expect ? It’s always about the money... why not queeze some more out of the fans ? Before no one remembers that Buffy or Angel or James ever existed.

It takes much less time to record as a solo artist than to tour, rehearse and schedule rehearsal and performance time as a member of a band, and much less energy. To call it conceit is to overlook the fact that he said he felt he really didn’t make it as the front man for a band, quite sincerely. Anyone who couldn’t see he was overwhelmed, wasn’t even watching casually. Also for fans, the old band is now two bands. Charlie and Kevin’s band is Power Animal and Steve’s band is Gods of the Radio. Both are also recording albums. People’s need to be nasty just kills me sometimes. Especially when they don’t have the vaguest notion of what they’re talking about. (Yeah, I know, "I have a friend who knows Steve really well, and he said.." yeah, yeah, yeah.) Wankers! Why are there always little wankers chittering around feeding on gossip and innuendo.

I would like to point out that this is the only site to add "But why did he leave Ghost of the Robot..." Shit stirring is not a class act buffy.nu, but what? it keeps them typing for higher board ratings?

Why did he leave GotR ?! Because his ego couldn’t take the fact that the other bandmembers are better musicians... and got more and more attention by the fans...

James is great. And I don’t really care why he left GOTR because it happens all the time in Hollywood. Im personally glad he’s coming out with a solo album. Maybe its cuz’ I’m a big fan and he’s a total hottie, but I think he’s a great singer and guitarist, so I’m glad he went solo! And I am SO getting that album! No way in hell am I not getting it!

I think we’re dealing with one, maybe two troublemakers here. So can we back away from the bezoar and let it act out to an empty house?

Has anyone elese EVER WONDERED why a 40 year old guy put together a band with such very young members when there is so much muscial talent in Hollywood? Or why he dissolved the band when they only had a few more contcents to do? He didn’t seem to have trouble finding time to do the band when acting, so Mcebeth was an excuse, not the reason. I can support his acting with, but sorry can’t get excited about his singing, when there is so much real musical talent out there.

You know - it makes me really, really sick how there are just too many people on this board who just write rude, insultin, disrespectful and totally stupid comments!!! I like James, I liked GotR, I like his singing, his reading and acting - well, sue me... no don’t! But STOP bringing these ANONYMUS bullshit comments. If you want to stir the pot - go elsewhere or just do it at home, private, without attacking Fans for being Fans (especially if you don’t like the subject of their fandom)!

Thank U Isabell! People - be real! NONE of you know the actual reasons behind the splitting of GotR. Perhaps the members just didn`t function together anymore, perhaps it was because their style of music changed (I like the EP, but its definitely different from MB), perhaps it was because of MacBeth, perhaps there are other personal reasons, perhaps... It`s done. And throwing wild accusations won`t change that! You like James, his acting, his music - then support him. If you don`t like it, then donīt. But please stop accusing him of things you don`t have any proove of, and childish insults really donīt belong here, don`t you think? Me, I`m really curious about James` coming projects!

Why did he leave? Simple, if anyone has listened to the music and taken note of the sound change you would realise that they are all going in different directions. James may not have time to tour with the band as it would be hard to set tour dates and they cancel them as he now needs to go film something. He always said that BTVS/Ats gave him a timetable to work with the band around. Go check out the Power Animals site or the Gods of the Radio site and you will see that these two (Charlie and Steven) have very diffrent music going now. The band grew in different directions and their music changed with them. I personally think that it is better this way. I like what JM writes as much as what the others write, but for different reasons. Also ’If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all!"

Sorry jumping off my box now!

I agree with your message Angelic Vampyre, but can’t help it: Paptpaws, You’re a really sick wittle kitty. No Heavyside Lair for you. Seek mental help and poop in your own catbox only.

I totally agree, why are people waisting their time, having a go at James, and his music, acting and such. WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM. i don’t even know why you guys are even looking at the James Marsters section if you don’t like him. Leave the message boards free for people to add comments from those that do love him as an an AMAZINGLY talented actor, singer and all round outstanding person. I’m personally extatic that James is bringing out a solo album. I’ve heard him performing solo and he truly rocks. So i think those of you that have nasty, insulting things to say about James should just p*ss off because you clearly have nothing better to do than snipe at things beyond your control, and insult a man we all repect and love.
