James Marsters Thanks E!OnLine For The Two Golden Tater Awards

Monday 4 October 2004, by Webmaster

James Marsters received two awards from E!OnLine: “Star You Will Miss the Most” and “Favorite Drama King”.

“Thank you E!OnLine for the two Golden Tater awards and a huge thanks to all the fans for voting for me - way cool!!” - James Marsters

You can check out all the results here :

Results of the 2004 Tater Tops Awards :

First things first: To any of you who have (A) bashed the third season of Alias; (B) defended the WB’s cancellation of Angel; and/or (C) failed to bow down and worship the almighty perfection that is Adam Brody, I offer only two words...

Neener-neener.

The votes have been counted for the 2004 Tater Tops Awards, where you, the fans, the couch "taters," gave the last word on what rocked (and flopped) during the 2003-04 TV season. Alias, Angel and The O.C. took top honors, lending further proof to what we true fans have always known: Big ratings do not a masterpiece make.

And the Tater Tops couldn’t have come at a better time. This very Thursday, the 2004 Emmy Award nominations will be announced bright and early, and per usual (since I can’t sleep anyway), I’ll join E! News Live hosts John Burke and Alisha Davis live at the plum hour of 8 a.m. ET/5 a.m. PT for all the tubelicious action.

This year, I’m making it my personal mission to tell the world (or, um, our viewers) about all the deserving tube fare consistently overlooked by those stodgy Emmy voters, who tend to vote for the same shows year after year for no reason except to drive me to an early grave.

Thanks to our Tater Tops Awards, I already have a pretty good grasp on the shows and stars most loved by you fans. But if you don’t mind, do me one more favor—I need all the ammo I can get. Take a minute to email me with your vote for the one series you hope will be nominated for an Emmy but which probably won’t get a nod. (Please put the show’s title in the subject line.)

In return, I’ll mail out those illustrious (okay, hokey) Golden Tater Awards to all the winners from this year’s Tater Tops, along with letters of congratulation explaining why you fans think the trophy takers are the shiznit.

You can get official results on the following pages, but in case you’re wondering, here’s how this year’s TTs break down: Alias took home the most awards (despite what many fans poo-pooed as a lackluster season), claiming a total of eight, including Drama You Can’t Live Without. Second place was a three-way tie between Angel (including Drama King for James Marsters), The O.C. (which took Best New Show, among others) and Friends (nabbing Show You’ll Miss the Most, for one), with three wins each. But it must be said, Angel fans, your show lost by a hair in some categories and almost beat out Friends for Show You’ll Miss the Most—not too shabby.

On the flip side, no one, and I do mean no one, pushed your buttons like Omarosa from The Apprentice and the sad social commentary that is The Swan.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: You all have impeccable taste.

Now, join me for our next chat this Monday, when I’ll be dripping with scoop from the Television Critics Association Press Tour, a virtual mecca of lip-smacking goodies on new and returning shows.

In the meantime, make sure you check out the Tater Tops results...

And happy tubing!
