Joss Whedon - Don’t Count Out Whedon for X-Men 3

’Devin’ at CHUD just chatted with "X-Men" series producer Lauren Shuler Donner who said not to count out "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel," and "Firefly" creator Joss Whedon for the director’s chair of X-Men 3.

My first question was why Joss Whedon ISN’T going to be taking the reins on X3. "I’m a huge fan of Joss’," Lauren told me. "Nothing is certain yet." Lauren says that she would still love to work with him on the film.

    That’s great, X-men 2 is one of my favourite films ever. But i Heard a rumour that the next film is just going to be a wolverine spin-off, did anyone else here that.

    No, from my understanding the X3 is going to focus more with Collosus, Gambit, and/or The Beast. All 3 have been contracted for "more important roles" in the next title.

    If you remember, Dr. Hank Mccoy was in X2 (he was on TV in an interview) and has not yet turned into "The Beast". So I "think" that is what X3 will probably be based around.

    Peter Rasbutin (spelling?) aka Collosus was in X2 as well and didn’t seem like he would have a major roll to play, but I think they may cook up a story for him.

    Now, Remey Lebue’s (spelling?) aka Gambit’s name was on a computer at Strikers office. Which leads me to believe that he could play a major part in the movie.

    Regarding the wolverine spinoff: Yes they are planning one, but they are doing it in addition to X men III. I don’t know if it will come before or after X3 though.

    I hope they at least wait until after Serenity comes out. I have faith that Serenity will be sufficiently great to justify them giving X3 to Joss. I know I am preaching to the quire here, but I would love to see him direct it.
