Through The Years: The Story Of Toy Story

The story began to come together, with the Pixar team beginning to find their own groove. Joss Whedon was brought in by Disney to write the script for a couple of months before going off to develop the Buffy TV show, and inspired Stanton in particular as a writer. "Once we read his stuff, we realised how good a script could be. He wrote so visually, and I just soaked up everything he did." After he left, when something needed to be rewritten the team did it themselves. Meanwhile Pixar began recruiting and training the animators they’d need to put the film together - most of them never having worked on computers before. Lee Unkrich, now the director of Toy Story 3, joined at this point as an editor.
