Marti Noxon (buffy producer) - "Point Pleasant" Tv Show Rises from Dead at FOX

Saturday 11 September 2004, by Webmaster

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) A supernatural soap opera that didn’t make the cut this spring has found new life at FOX.

The network has ordered 13 episodes of "Point Pleasant," which had a fair amount of buzz during last spring’s pilot season but didn’t make any of FOX’s myriad schedules for 2004-05. The network did, however, order another script from exec producer and former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" scribe Marti Noxon.

That second script led the network to pick up the series.

"It’s a very compelling world, and it’s highly entertaining from both a soap point of view and the genre that it exists within," Craig Erwich, an executive vice president at FOX, tells The Hollywood Reporter. "Point Pleasant" takes place in a usually placid seaside town. Things start to get strange, however, when a young woman (Elisabeth Harnois, "All My Children") washes up on the beach.

Cameron Richardson ("Skin"), Brent Weber, Aubrey Dollar ("Guiding Light"), Sam Page and Aaron Paul also starred in the pilot. The cast is expected to remain largely intact for the series, which would be ready to air in early 2005. FOX also has "Jonny Zero," "The Inside" and "Athens," from "O.C." creator Josh Schwartz, on the docket for midseason.

Noxon and John McLaughlin, who wrote the pilot script, will serve as executive producers with Neal Moritz, Dawn Parouse and Marty Adelstein.
