Everyone had their eyes on the Mavericks — the 27 visionary thinkers in media, entertainment, politics and technology who are shaping our lives, according to the April issue of Details magazine — during the dinner/party at Mary Parent’s home in Brentwood on Thursday night.

"Who wouldn’t want to catch a maverick like Damon Dash or Ryan Seacrest?" asked Molly Sims as she joined maverick watchers Adam Brody, Bill Paxton, Chris Klein, Ginnifer Goodwin, Randy Jackson, Michelle Trachtenberg, Debi Mazar, Emily Deschanel, Justin Kirk and Stacy Keibler in the crowded garden.

"Mavericks are cool, confident and collected."

"I’m into anybody who thinks outside the box and doesn’t play by the rules to make it up the ladder," said Rex Lee of "Entourage," who swung by after the premiere of "The Reaping" in Westwood.

Not being on the elite list of mavericks — which includes ABC’s Stephen McPherson, fashion designer Tom Ford, Reveille’s Ben Silverman, ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos,

Charlie Walk of Epic Records, political consultant Jay Reiff, Bravo’s Lauren Zalaznick, Starbucks’ Nikkole Denson and assistant secretary of state Kristen Silverberg — disappointed some guests

"I did abs work for a year to make the list and nobody even noticed," said Brody, who was drowning his disappointment with a martini under the Japanese lanterns and heat lamps. "Now I’m going to play a lot of poker and write the great American novel to see if that works."

"These people represent sexy responsibility," added Trachtenberg. "I’d be honored to be among them."

Naturally, the truly unconventional thinkers in the crowd put themselves above the herd.

"I’m a black stallion, and that’s much bigger than being one of these young bucks and mavericks," said Randy Jackson. "I just came by to support my boy Ryan Seacrest because he’s sly like me, smart like me and cool like me."
