Morena Baccarin - "The Avengers" Movie - She is ok to work again with Joss Whedon

Sunday 17 October 2010, by Webmaster

While “V”’s Morena Baccarin was in town for New York Comic Con this past weekend to talk up the show’s return to ABC in November, she set the record straight to Access Hollywood regarding the chances of re-teaming with director/producer Joss Whedon for a part in his big screen adaptation of Marvel Studios “The Avengers.”

“I wish I had more information for you,” she said (with a notable big beaming smile), when asked about any talks with Joss, specifically about playing The Wasp in the film.

Morena is no stranger to the fan boy community. She was part of the ensemble cast of Joss Whedon’s short-lived FOX series “Firefly,” and its big screen follow-up “Serenity.” Morena now stars in ABC’s reboot of the 80’s sci-fi classic “V” as Anna, the alien lizard Queen of the Visitors.

When genre king Joss Whedon was announced to direct Marvel Studios’ big budget super team-up movie, every past and present name from the Whedon-verse was suddenly thrust into the rumor mill as a candidate for any possible superhero roles still left uncast.

“All I will say is I will never turn down an opportunity to work with him,” she responded when pressed further on the possibility. “He’s one of my favorite people in the world.”

The Wasp (who was part of the comic book storyline as a founding member of The Avengers alongside Thor, Iron Man, the Hulk, and Ant Man), may not end up appearing in the final shooting script currently being retooled by Whedon. Though in past Marvel films, surprise cameos have become almost expected.

With both Baccarin’s connection to Whedon and more than a passing resemblance to the character with the short pixie cut which she currently sports for “V,” Morena would certainly appear to be a perfect fit for the role.
