Wednesday 14 February 2007, by Webmaster

Opening Night Film: Waitress
USA, 2006, Length: 104 min, 35mm

Directed By: Adrienne Shelly
WRITER:: Adrienne Shelly
PRODUCER:: Michael Roiff
EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS:: Robert Bauer, Todd King, Danielle Renfrew, Jeff Rose
CAST:: Keri Russell, Nathan Fillion, Cheryl Hines, Adrienne Shelly, Jeremy Sisto, Andy Griffith Waitress is a happy celebration of a film about a young woman trapped by small-town circumstance who, through tenacity, courage, and empathy finds redemption and a road to the future. The story is heartwarming, the dialogue sparkles, and the cast clearly enjoys themselves - including a breakout performance by Keri Russell (Felicity), with support from Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Adrienne Shelly (Trust), Nathan Fillion (Lost), Jeremy Sisto (Six Feet Under), and Andy Griffith (yes, THAT Andy Griffith).

Writer/director/actress Adrienne Shelly was in Aspen in 2000 with I’ll Take You There, a film which won our Best Director award. We’ve been anxiously awaiting her follow-up, and this one delivers on the promise, revealing a talent that has continued to grow and mature within the medium.

Tragically, we lost Adrienne this past November, just as her film had been accepted by Sundance. It played to rapt audiences in Park City, and was immediately acquired by Fox Searchlight. We are proud to present Waitress as this years opening film. We love this film, and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
