Sony Entertainment has picked up the theatrical distribution rights to "Southland Tales" starring The Rock, Kevin Smith, and Sarah Michelle-Gellar. The post-apocalyptical film by "Donnie Darko" director Richard Kelly was met with negative reviews at the Cannes Film Festival awhile back. The three hour film is expected to be edited greatly before it is released.

Speaking of The Rock, over the last several days, there have been rumblings on Internet movie websites that the Spy Hunter feature film has been shelved. Producer Adrian Askarieh has contacted a number of sites to deny that the project is dead. Midway Games, which owns the video game that the film is based on, has been developing a new game using The Rock’s visage and voice for Alec Decker in conjunction with the film’s eventual release.

Bebe Neuwirth (best known as Lillith on Cheers and Frasier) has signed onto the cast of The Rock’s Disney film "Game Plan" in the role of his agent. The film is currently on hiatus while Rock recovers and undergoes therapy following surgery on his achilles tendon.
