Rooney’s Clown Show Creation Plays Off-Bway (eliza dushku mention)

Saturday 1 July 2006, by Webmaster

OBIE Winner/Producer Ty Jones and Producer Jill Jones of Gussy Charles Productions will present a limited 6-week engagement of Creation, created and performed by Lucas Caleb Rooney, and created and directed by OBIE-winner Orlando Pabotoy. Performances will run from August 4th, 2006 to September 10th, 2006 at Theater Five (311 W. 43rd St.) in NYC. Previews begin August 4th for an August 10th opening.

"Creation, a solo clown show in the tradition of Harpo Marx and Bill Irwin, is a physically raucous, delightful romp through the world of the clown, where the silly is celebrated and the simple is beautiful. Embracing make-believe and magic, and returning one to a world of wonder, Creation offers a hilarious new view of that old book known as Genesis. With rare crossover appeal, adults will love this edgy show, while kids will run to tell their friends about the funniest guy since Homer Simpson," state press notes. Creation features original music (ukulele included) conceived and performed by Peter Friedland and Javen Tanner. No knowledge of English necessary to enjoy the show.

Creator/actor Rooney has performed on Broadway in Jack O’Brien’s production of Henry IV and was Brian F. O’Byrne’s understudy in Doubt at MTC. He has also performed at the Pittsburgh Public in Dirty Blonde, at the Irish Rep in She Stoops To Conquer and at the Old Globe Theatre in Complete Female Stage Beauty (Mark Lamos) and Twelfth Night (Jack O’Brien). He is currently shooting the feature film On Broadway, opposite Amy Poehler, Eliza Dushku and Will Arnett. Lucas teaches Clown at The Actors Center and assists Christopher Bayes at the Yale School of Drama.

Performances run Wednesdays-Saturdays & Mondays at 7pm and Saturdays & Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are $39.50 for adults and $31.50 for kids under 12 and can be purchased by calling 212-868-4444 or visiting www.smarttix.com.
