The Grudge 2 Trailer Debuts at Comic-Con

Director Takashi Shimizu showed attendees at the San Diego Comic-Con the trailer to his upcoming horror sequel The Grudge 2 on Sunday. The debut trailer starts with a girl riding in the back of a car with a voice over of her mother speaking to her on the phone - "There has been an accident. Your sister is in the hospital." Turns out, her sister is Sarah Michelle Gellar, who we see next awake but nervous and strapped to a hospital bed. In voice-over, Gellar warns her sister - "Don’t go inside that house."

There are several cut scenes of Ju-on style creepiness. Then... and this might be a spoiler for some... we see a shot of Gellar lying on the ground in a pool of her own blood - dead. The sister says in voice-over - "My sister is dead. Why? What do you want?"

More creepy shots including the little boy from the first film, but other ’infected’ entities as well. The tagline flashes on the screen in two parts - What was contained... Will be unleashed. More fast cut images followed including someone - rather unnaturally - reaching into a girl-s mouth and a shot of the little boy under desk. The trailer climaxed with the image that appears on the opening page of the official site - a close of a portion of the little boy-s face with a red ’2’ in his eye.

Shimizu - though an interpreter - told the audience that at an early age he didn-t understand why people would pay to be scared, but now he enjoys and is honored to make movies in the genre now.

He added that he likes the idea of making a sci-fi film in the future that deals with a time paradox.
