Sarah Michelle Gellar - "Veronika Decides to Die" Movie - She can do no right

Tuesday 16 December 2008, by Webmaster

The story centers on Veronika, a woman in her mid twenties who appears to have everything: good looks, good job and a great life ahead of her. Yet she decides to end her own life. She is unsuccessful and awakens in a mental hospital where she learns that she a short time to live. However in the hospital she meets people who are only ’insane’ because they don’t always follow society’s rules. With little left to lose, Veronika embarks on a journey on which she frees herself to experience relationships and emotions and ultimately discovers what it means to live.

Since "The Grudge" came out in 2004, Sarah Michelle Gellar has made nine films — one went straight to DVD, another has bounced around more than Pam Anderson’s boobs in trying to find a release date and all the others were barely blips on the radar. The only noteworthy title was "Southland Tales" and that’s just because it was so despised at Cannes, you can still hear the booing.

Needless to say, SMG has yet to find a film that is worthy of the acting chops she displayed for seven seasons as Buffy Summers. Perhaps her latest film is that elusive gem, the one that’ll finally show the world what us Buffyverse citizens have known for quite some time — Sarah Michelle will break your heart.

In "Veronika Decides to Die," she plays the titular character who attempts suicide only to survive and find out that she damaged her heart beyond repair during the overdose, so she now has a week to live. It may not be the year’s most uplifting film, but come this March I am hoping that Sarah Michelle finally gets the reviews she deserves and the booing is saved for "Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2."
