Sarah Michelle Gellar

Sarah Michelle Gellar is a bargain

Sunday 2 January 2005, by Webmaster

I read that Sarah Michelle Gellar got only $500,000 for her super-hit, The Grudge. How come she’s paid so little compared to other major stars?

Gellar actually got $600,000 for the film, but you’re right in thinking she could hold a grudge if she doesn’t do better with her next movie. The truth is, Hollywood is still not convinced that TV’s vampire slayer has what it takes to put the bite on theater audiences.

Anxious to prove that her flick wasn’t a fluke, the 27-year-old actress is currently filming Southland Tales, a musical comedy in which she co-stars with Saturday Night Live’s Amy Poehler, and will start work later this year on Revolver, a thriller in which she plays a saleswoman investigating a murder. Then it’s back to horror with The Grudge 2. No news yet on how much she will get for this one, but you can bet it will be a lot more than $600,000.

Well, I am sure that the $500,000 amount was an intital, contractual amount. This amount doesn’t include box office return or DVD sales. I’d say she would be okay never to work again based on that movie alone. Look at the box office numbers!

yeah, but she also made $4,500,000 for scooby doo 2, so the 500,000 more about the grudge’s budget than sarah’s worth. for a movie with a $10,000,000 budget, she did just fine.

While I was watching The Grudge, I thought that The Ring was a lot scarier. However, this movie grew on me and I really like it. Lots of terror that built up after the fact. Eagerly awaiting the sequel.
