Scream queens rule the season (sarah michelle gellar mention)

Saturday 28 October 2006, by Webmaster

As long as there have been horror movies to scare us, there have been damsels-in-distress to scream their beautiful lungs out. UGO put together a feature just in time for Halloween about eleven of the best scream queens of all time including Jessica Biel, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Anna Faris.

The intro to the Top 11 Scream Queens even gives props to the new gals like Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Final Destination 3), Jordana Brewster (TCM: The Beginning), and Naomi Watts (King Kong), but they didn’t make the cut for the top eleven. As the folks at UGO say, "Bow down, present your gifts and feel free to stare all you want, ’cause these ladies are cool like that."

UGO goes old school with a few of the choices including Adrienne Barbeau, Janet Leigh, Fay Wray, and the great Jamie Lee Curtis, who claims the number one spot, and even throw a shout out to Heather Donahue who helped shock the world in The Blair Witch Project.

All you fans of the new generation of hot young scream queens can start with Neve Campbell at #8 who gets props for her work in the Scream trilogy and even more for turning down Cursed.

Cerina Vincent, the hot young star of Cabin Fever lands the #6 spot, largely because she followed some of the long-forgotten staples of scream queens - "Getting naked, having sex". We wish more queens would follow suit.

A string of new generation actresses landed in the top five, starting with Jennifer Love Hewitt in the #5 spot for her busty work in I Know What You Did Last Summer and its sequel.

In something of a controversial choice, the fantastic Anna Faris landed the #4 position for her work in the Scary Movie franchise. She’s the funniest scream queen on the list.

She’s only been in one real horror movie, but considering she spent roughly half of it screaming, Jessica Biel seems like a good choice for the #3 slot for her work in the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Just below the queen - Jamie Lee Curtis - you’ll find the woman formerly known as Buffy, Sarah Michelle Gellar laying claim to the silver medal of scream queens for a consistent resume of horror, including Scream 2, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Grudge movies, and the upcoming The Return.
