"Serenity" (2005): Although it exists almost solely thanks to fans of the short-lived series it was based on ("Firefly"), Joss Whedon’s space Western works magnificently on its own as an intelligent, fast-paced, rollicking adventure. The fans couldn’t bolster its weak box office, however.
