With the baseball season over, fans of Fox’s animation block on Sunday nights can rejoice.

Anchoring the Sunday night lineup is the hit show "Family Guy."

The fifth season of the politically incorrect but funny animated sitcom kicks off the November sweeps with the voices of Carrie Fischer and Drew Berrymore.

In "Whistle While Your Wife Works", Peter, in typical Peter Griffin fashion, strings a bunch of M80s together and blows the fingers off his hand. His boss (Fischer) threatens to fire him if he does not pick up his production. Unable to work, Peter convinces Lois to come in and help him get caught up. Peter finds the situation irresistibly arousing and spends his recovery time seducing (i.e. sexually harassing) his wife.

Meanwhile, Brian is in no hurry allow the family to meet his new girlfriend, Jillian (Berrymore). Stewie is convinced it is because she is ugly but when Brian relents, he discovers she is a moron. Stewie tries to convince Brian to end the intellectually-draining relationship but Brian cannot pull the trigger because she is so hot.

Some other funny moments involve Peter and his friends sitting nude in a beer brewers discussing the merits of a former NBC sitcom as well as Joe Swanson planting a knife on a crazed pigeon, "just to be safe."

Oddly enough, the appeal of Family Guy is the fact that, with some exceptions, you can plug just about any episode into any season and have it work. The new season continues the trend with the random, off-the-wall humor and the sick, twisted but freakin’ sweet charm of the first family of Quahog.

Since debuting in 1999, the emmy-nominated hit from Seth McFarlane has attracted a large and loyal fan following. Upon cancenlation after the third season, impressive DVD sales and fan support pulled the show out of the abyss. Featuring the voice talents of McFarlane, MadTV alum Alex Bornstien, Seth Green and more, the show has the unique ability to appeal to a wide-ranging audience. Parodying everything from pop culture to musical theatre, there is always something to tickle the funny bone and offend as well as delight.

The second half of the fourth season will be released on DVD on Nov. 14.

Family Guy aires every Sunday night on at 8:00 pm on Fox.
