Actor JASON SEGEL was forced to give up smoking when his HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER co-star ALYSON HANNIGAN refused to kiss him.

Non-smoker Alyson, who plays fiancee LILY to Segel’s character MARSHALL, was so repulsed by the smell of his breath she vowed not to go near the actor unless he quit.

He says, "She told me she would not do any romantic scenes with me as long as I was smoking.

"And that left me with no other option.

"So I quit the day we started working, and I haven’t had a cigarette since.

Segel is now grateful for the decision because he smells sweeter and boasts a higher sex drive.

He adds, "I didn’t gain any weight - I was a little nervous about that, but that wasn’t a problem.

"I didn’t get too grumpy. My clothes don’t smell anymore. I really upped my mojo."

Good for A.H.!!! And I’m so glad she’s not a smoker in real life. It’s always such a turn off when you see pictures of your favorite actor or actress off the set or behind the scenes puffing away. Ick!!! And to the smokers - no offense to anyone personally - some of my friends are smokers, and though I love them I do get grossed out by their nasty habit, and especially things like smoky clothes smell and the beyond-grossatrophic ash trays! Ugghhh! But I totally understand how incredibly difficult it is to quit once you’ve become addicted to nicotine and the habit itself. To the people who want to quit and try - don’t get discouraged and keep trying. A friend of mine would try to quit smoking every couple of months, and after a few tries some of our other friends (including myself initially, until I realized how childish and hurtful my joking was when we’d say "yeah yeah, heard it before, what’s this? Trying to quit attemt 15?" So always be supportive of your friends and family who are trying to quit no matter how many times they attempt it. Those of us who aren’t smolers have no concept of how terrible addiction is, and until you experience a similar experience on your own, you just can’t comprehend what these people go through. So be positive, help them out, and remember to overlook any grouchy comments that may come out during these phases - it’s not your friend being mean, just the pain of withdrawal lashing out.

And just to vent, one thing about smokers that really pi$$e$ me off is when smokers "demand their right" to smoke in public, etc - I find that to be the most grandiose lack of concern for anyone around them, that they think they should be allowed to get their fix without any regard to the safety of those around them! Get freakin real! Take some nicotine gum or something and spare those of us who don’t want to deal with the disgusting smoke smell and the danger of it all. I personally would like to take steroids to get bigger muscles, but I can’t because it’s illegal, ostensibly because it would harm me. But Cigarette smoking, which is dangerous not only to the smoker, but to those around the smokler (even children who can’t always get out of the house or car, etc) - it just goes to show how screwed up society is - because of the money the cigarette makes, it’s perfectly legal, even though it’s getting more restrctions on where it can be done (but again, these don’t help children of smokers, etc). It’s still odd given how much heakthcare related to it costs...My old roommate’s mother gets out of control when she hears restaurants that have banned smoking, etc. I absolutely can not understand her reaction. SHe seems to take it personally, like someone is infringing on her freedom, but never once considers her smoking to be an infringement on anyone else’s rights or safety! She’s the type of person that you can not talk to about this particular issue (which is doubly odd because in general she is such a sweetheart and kind, but smoking is an absolute no-no!). She even smokes around her grandchildren. To me that either implies ignorance of the dangers, something that anyone who can read can’t be ignorant of these days, or an indication of how powerful addicition is. (And again, I am NOT slamming her as I do like her immensely, just not this one particular trait. And when I say ignorance - I don’t mean that she’s stupid, but that she ignores or selectively likes to be "unaware" of the dangers associated with it).

Anyway, sorry to vent - sometimes I get carried away about stuff that irks me that I have little control over and is carazy that it’s not outlawed. And I’m sure any smoker who reads this will hate me, but again, I’m not judging anyone or even intentionally attacking anyone personally - just this singular, nasty and dangerous habit that I have such a strong revulsion towards.

Lung cancer or smooching Alyson Hannigan? Let’s see. Now, there’s a case of getting one’s priorities in order.
