Summer Glau - "Supernatural" Tv Series - Where has Summer gone ?

Friday 20 October 2006, by Webmaster

Fresh from seeing Amber Benson on last week’s Supernatural, I was all psyched to catch fellow Whedonite Summer Glau (River Tam from Firefly/Serenity) this week. After all, the CW’s official website described the episode thusly:

Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) investigate the murder of a college student (guest star Summer Glau) who has come back from the dead seeking revenge on those who mistreated her while she was alive. Upon confrontation, the ghost savagely attacks Sam, leaving him injured.

Alas, it was not to be. Somehow wires got crossed, parts got recast and publicists forgot to update blurbs. Instead, an actress named Tamara Feldman was playing the resurrected femme fatale. No offense to Ms. Feldman, who seems attractive and competent, but she’s no Summer.

I could only console myself on two counts. First, the normally goody-goody, Sam finally showed a bit of a moral weakness when he temporarily gave in to his naughty side. While waiting for his brother, Sam is just about to watch Casa Erotica 4: A Tale of Two Latin Beauties on the motel’s cable when Dean walks in and ends the festivities.

Also, it turns out Summer will be playing with the supernatural over on ABC Family on Sunday (Oct. 22). In the remake of The Initiation of Sarah, she’ll play Lindsey, the non-magical twin sister of Sarah (Mika Boorem) as they go to college and get mixed up with some wicked sororities. Although Summer is described as the meeker sibling who has issues, I’m still hoping that she’ll be able to exercise some of sort of ass-kickery.

Are you a Summer fan? Was tuning in also your winter of discontent?
