Summer Glau at Supanova Event on April 2006 - 9,000 fans !

Sunday 30 April 2006, by Webmaster

A record number of 9,000 fans turned out for Supanova 2006 in Brisbane as everyone fell in love with Serenity and Firefly star, Summer Glau (first and foremost Supanova Event Director, Daniel Zachariou, pictured with Summer). But not to be upstaged was legend John Schneider of Smallville and Dukes of Hazzard fame, Bruce Spence and Patrick Kake.

The Infinite Crisis duo of Geoff Johns and Phil Jimenez was unstoppable; the tenor terrors of Mike McFarland and Sean Schemmel amazed the fans; and the techno geniuses of multi Award winning Richard Taylor, Oscar Nominated Anthony Lucas, Video Games Lives’ Tommy Tallarico and Animal Logic’s Marco Nero kept it creative.

Special thanks go to our new sponsors in Brisbane for 2006; Garnier, Weta Collectibles, Mr Toys Toyworld, CNET.com.au, Cartoon Network and Queensland Games along with stalwarts Madman, Upper Deck and FILMINK. Each of them contributed something special to make it that much more exciting.

The Supanova frenzy began when 25 fans were in attendance for the Infinite Crisis MasterClass on Thursday night before over 700 fans attended Preview Night which was officially opened by the Hon. Mr. Chris Cummins the Queensland Minister for IT Policy and Small Business.

The main event then fell into full swing Saturday morning with near show-stopping numbers (no kidding - the RNA was considering closing the doors on us!) before the SOLD-OUT Serenity screening introduced by Summer was held that night at the Globe Theatre. Her charm was matchless and despite another huge day on Sunday she backed up and did an encore introduction of Serenity at the special Volunteers screening of the film!

But what better way to finish four nights and two days worth of expo action than with a thank you to the volunteers who once again outdid themselves.

So a huge and hearty thank you to fans, volunteers, exhibitors, sponsors and special guests for what we consider to have been not only only our best attended but best event yet full stop.

Yours in appreciation,
Daniel Zachariou
Supanova Event Director
