What’s on your Best of Everything Television list? Talk about it on the TV Gal message board.

Quotes of the Week

"I think those two women should be on ’The Contender,’ not ’The Apprentice.’" Andy about Jen and Sandy on the excruciating finale of "The Apprentice." Thanks to TV Gal reader Jeff for the quote.

"This city is wretched and disgusting and they just keep breeding and breeding and there’s poverty. I can’t take it." Kendra on "The Amazing Race." Can you believe she actually said that knowing that it would be broadcast on national television? This is the season for deplorable contestants.

Seth Cohen Quote of the Week

"The Chrismukkah backlash, What if it’s getting too big and commercial ... It’s like it started out as this really cool, cult holiday, flying under the cultural radar and then all of the sudden it crosses over. Then there’s too much pressure. I mean can it really be the next Thanksgiving? Can it top Halloween?" Seth talking about his holiday (and perhaps the show itself).

Where Have I Seen Them Before?

Elizabeth Mitchell, Ariel on "The Lyon’s Den," Dr. Kim Legaspi on "ER" (she was Dr. Weaver’s first girlfriend), and Alan’s ex-girlfriend who tried to kill him this season on "Boston Legal," was the nun House was trying to save on "House." Lucinda Jenney, Lanie Kellis on "The Shield," and Helen Singer, the mother of the sick boy last season on "24," was the nun who thought she was faking her illness. TV Gal reader Bernie recognized Dakin Matthews, the headmaster of Chilton Academy on "Gilmore Girls" as the Santa with irritable bowel syndrome

David Garrison, Steve on "Married ... with Children," was the robbery victim who claimed he didn’t remember his attacker on "NYPD Blue." We recently saw Garrison on "Without a Trace" and he was the man who swindled Robert out of his money when he pretended to be a modeling agent last season on "Everybody Loves Raymond." TV Gal reader Dyan recognized Chad Allen who played the killer (who happened to have the Bale’s credit card in his freezer). Allen was Tommy Westphall on "St. Elsewhere" and Matthew Cooper on "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman."

Robin Weigert, Calamity Jane on "Deadwood," was the mother with MS on "Judging Amy." Jennifer Esposito, Stacey on "Spin City," was Crystal, the woman who helped homeless teenagers.

Emmanuelle Vaugier, Nikki on "One Tree Hill," Lex’s wife Dr. Helen Bryce on "Smallville," and Sarah on "My Guide to Becoming a Rock Star," was the agent’s wife who had an affair with Aaron Echolls on "Veronica Mars." Thanks to TV Gal reader Darren for recognizing this familiar face.

Megan Ward, the dear-departed mother on "Summerland," Joel’s wife Kelly on "Boomtown," Griffin’s sister Jill on "Party of Five," and Kimberly on "Dark Skies," had a busy December. She was Susan May, the woman accused of killing her husband and his lover on "Boston Legal" and Laura Rowens on "Navy NCIS."

TV Gal reader Ken recognized Scott Valentine as the sleep doctor on "CSI: New York." He was Mallory’s boyfriend Nick on "Family Ties."

TV Gal reader Michelle recognized Rocky Carroll, Carl on "The Agency," Keith on "Chicago Hope," and Joey on "Roc," was the prosecuting attorney. Ed O’Ross, Ruth’s Russian boyfriend Nikolai on "Six Feet Under" was the judge and Jodi Lyn O’Keefe, Cassidy on "Nash Bridges" and the woman Charlie tried to pick up in a bar on "Two and a Half Men," was one of the law firm’s secretaries.

And TV Gal reader Cynthia reports that Phillip Rhys, the doomed Reza from season two of "24" and Jude on "Nip/Tuck," was the fashion designer Adrian Webber on "North Shore." In the spirit of the holiday season, we here at Team TV Gal are forgiving Cynthia for watching "North Shore"

Highlights of the Week Ahead All times listed are Eastern Time for Dec. 20 to 26

Was the series finale of "The Apprentice" (repeating Tuesday at 8 p.m. on CNBC) the most excruciating thing you’ve ever watched? Let this be a lesson. This is what happens when you take five minutes of information (what a surprise? Kelly is the winner) and drag it out for three hours. And did anyone believe that Trump hadn’t made up his mind yet? Could the Pompadour One be that clueless? If people didn’t like or respect Jen, how could she ever be a leader? My pick for worst moment (and there were soooo many to chose from) was when all the people in the audience recommended Kelly. Were we really supposed to believe this was impromptu? They all looked like they were reading from prepared statements, if not cue cards (although I did feel bad for the Trump executive who clearly had a bad case of stage fright). But at least I got to see my Raj again.

Okay, this has gone on long enough. The producers of "The Amazing Race" (Tuesday, CBS, 8 p.m.) had a moral obligation to remove Jonathan and Victoria from the competition. And it’s not simply because he is ruining the show for me and many others (I have a friend who no longer will watch this formerly family-friendly show with her children. She ends up fast-forwarding through almost the entire episode). Allowing this dysfunctional couple to remain on TV with Jonathan’s deplorable, reprehensible, stomach-churning behavior sends the message to viewers everywhere that his actions are acceptable. And that is simply not true. People have been kicked off "The Real World" for less egregious behavior. I don’t want to have to boycott the show I named one of the 10 best for 2004, but I will if I have to.

Poor Greg. I want him to know that, like John, I loved the whole look of his shirt and tie. Now that Greg has worked things out with his credit card company, Mary Page Keller returns as Brigid Scofield. It’s about time Greg found love. This week on "NYPD Blue" (Tuesday, ABC, 10 p.m.), Oritz and Murphy go after a man with many wives. I have to say that I’m quite pleased the show keeps mentioning Connie. Now I know that Kim Delaney is going to be busy on "The O.C." playing Sandy’s former girlfriend, but I would love for her to stop by the precinct before the series ends.

Jimmy Kimmel skewers holiday specials in "Jimmy Kimmel Live’s Non-Denominational All-Star Celebrity Holiday Special" (Wednesday, ABC, 12:05). Look for appearances by Mike Tyson, Kenny G, Flavor Flav and Chris Issak.

You know I’m really going to miss Jimmy (aka Mr. Coop) on "The O.C." (Thursday, FOX, 9 p.m.). For one thing I think the show could use all the adults it has, for another, what will become of Marissa if she only has Julie as her parental figure? This week FOX repeats last year’s awesome Chrismukkah episode.

If you were late to the "Desperate Housewives" party, ABC repeats the pilot this Sunday at 9 p.m. Now can anyone tell me why Maisy suddenly had a southern accent? She didn’t have one when she was trying to let the big bad wolf live a couple episodes back. Also can the show please make a New Year’s resolution that we will see Marcia Cross and Doug Savant in a scene together next year. I need a Kimberly and Matt reunion. I demand it.

That’s all for today. For those who celebrate it, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and joy with family and friends. Like the song says, I’m going home for the holidays. Remember my parents live in The House That Cable Television Forgot, so it’s a good thing all the shows are in repeats. I will be back next Monday with the best quotes of 2004.
