Wednesday 21 June 2006, by Webmaster

Six Cartoon Network Original Adult Titles Coming to The Detour on TELETOON: Robot Chicken, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Squidbillies, 12 oz. Mouse, Stroker & Hoop, and Tom Goes to the Mayor

TORONTO, June 19 /CNW/ - Starting September 2006, as part of the specialty network’s new Fall season, the much coveted 18-34 crowd is invited to take a late night plunge into the smartest, freshest and hippest line-up television has to offer adults, as The Detour on TELETOON fearlessly presents Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim line-up. The recent acquisition deal gives the network’s post 9pm block for more mature viewers scheduling rights to six new properties, and new episodes to three already well-established titles on the network.

"By acquiring the original Adult Swim titles, TELETOON is fulfilling its promise of offering different, smart and fearless entertainment for our 18-34 fans," says Carole Bonneau, Vice-President, TELETOON. "Those who don’t have a bedtime clearly choose The Detour on TELETOON as their vehicle for satire, irony, deadpan humour, and pop culture references. The current success of our post 9pm block is a critical stepping stone towards building a stronger and distinct destination for more mature viewers, setting itself apart from our kids and family fare. The addition of the new Adult Swim acquisitions to our fall line-up can only serve to better anchor this destination."

TELETOON plans to showcase the new acquisitions on Friday evenings, during its popular F-Night block; while people viewing television goes down on Fridays, TELETOON’s Friday night viewing goes up! The addition of Adult Swim programming can only serve to widen that gap. Introduced in the winter of 2006, the F-Night line-up offers some of the sharpest, and sometimes raunchiest, titles for the network’s older viewers. Friday night is now one of the most popular destination for the maturely immature, male-skewing, viewers, with a 34% increase in viewership since the launch of the branded line-up (Fri 9p-12a)(1).

The tentative schedule will lead in with Robot Chicken Fridays at 10pm, followed by Tom Goes to the Mayor at 10:30pm. At 11pm, Space Ghost Coast to Coast is making its long-awaited premiere on Canadian soil, followed at 11:30 by 12oz Mouse and Squidbillies. Interspersed throughout this two-hour variety line-up are two properties that have already established themselves on the specialty network: Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law, and new episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force Adult Swim titles will also air Saturday to Thursday, during the network’s adult primetime as special Detour presentations. The one-hour variety line-up, starting at 10pm weekdays, will include another Adult Swim series: Stroker & Hoop.

Later during this programming year, The Detour on TELETOON will also schedule new episodes of Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law and Venture Bros, two properties that have already established themselves on the specialty network, and have proven to be nothing short of a cultural phenomenon.
