Tenjune : Save the date if you’re in New York (sarah michelle gellar mention)

Wednesday 3 January 2007, by Webmaster

Tenjune, a lounge in New York’s Meatpacking District

Sizzle factor:

Co-owners and longtime friends Eugene Remm and Mark Birnbaum transformed a former parking garage into an intimate underground lounge and named it after their shared birthday - June 10. Celebrity visitors have included Jessica Simpson, Dane Cook, Lindsay Lohan, Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein and Randy Jackson. Diddy has hosted parties there, and Uma Thurman recently filmed a scene for her upcoming film The Accidental Husband at Tenjune. After finishing his duties on Dick Clark’s Primetime New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2007 on ABC, Ryan Seacrest is heading to the club to host a party just after the ball drops in Times Square. Tickets for Seacrest’s New Year’s celebration cost $175, and people can call the lounge to get them. The owners are close to members of young Hollywood, including Sarah Michelle Gellar, who says, "Tenjune has a relaxed atmosphere with great music - and most importantly, it has Mark and Eugene." Supermodel Petra Nemcova adds, "I travel a lot and don’t have much time to go dancing, but if I can, I go to Tenjune. Great music and sweet people who work there - always fun!"

Vibe:

Although the lounge is one big room, it is separated into zones. The music pumps loudest in the dance area, which is bordered by the horseshoe-shaped lounge on a raised platform. The other side of the room features the more subdued marble lounge, which has a white marble fireplace and purple banquettes. The more casual bar area connects the two sides of the room and features soft velvet seating and wood flooring. "It’s a lounge that you can hang out in, but we do love the feel of a club," explains Remm. "It’s something for everyone."

Highlights:

Celebs and other VIPs can use the lounge’s chauffeur service. Special guests can call ahead and arrange for a new Range Rover Sport or Jaguar XK convertible to take them door to door. Once inside, patrons can store their belongings inside discreet drawers under every table. A signature drink: the Tenjune Toast with energy-infused p.i.n.k. vodka ($14).

Price check:

Reservations are accepted. There is no minimum bottle order for a reservation. Bottles range from $300 to $3,500.
