The American Cinematheque Blows Up the Internet : Webisodes on the Big Screen

From viral amateurs to star-packed shorts, the American Cinematheque launches an ongoing series offering the rare opportunity to see some of your favorite Internet sensations projected onto the glorious big screen of the Egyptian Theater. This month features Felicia Day and her multiplatform mega-hit Web series The Guild and Joss Whedon’s Emmy winner Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Celebrate Oktober Fest before or after tonight’s with beer and German food at the Pig ’n Whistle (next door to the Egyptian Theatre. 5PM - 2 AM.

A limited number of tickets will be sold at the door, first come, first served for those waiting in line.

"The Guild," Season 2, 2009, 40 min. Felicia Day has become an innovator in the world of Web-based production by writing, directing, producing and starring in this hilarious multiplatform online series, which pokes fun at the culture that surrounds massively multiplayer online games such as World of Warcraft. "Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog," 2008, 43 min. During the Writers Guild of America strike in 2007, film and television creator Joss Whedon decided to write something specifically for the Internet. The result was this three-part Emmy-winning Web musical starring Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day. It’s the story of a "low-rent super-villain, the hero who keeps beating him up, and the cute girl from the laundromat he’s too shy to talk to," says Whedon.
