Avast there Me Duck

UK TV VIEWERS are turning to internet piracy because they are fed up with waiting for their favourite shows to arrive from the US. According to the Web tracking outfit Envisional more than 100,000 British viewers currently download new TV programmes from the BitTorrent network.

We can’t imagine what shows would be worth watching since they canned Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, but according to the survey the shows they can’t wait for are Desperate Housewives and Six Feet Under.

Although it could be months before they show up in the UK, they are on BitTorrent within hours of the programmes being shown in the US.

Of course such things tigger any chance of advertising revenue in the UK. But maybe they should try to make sure they show them a little quicker.

With the technology available today, there is absolutley no reason for the shows not to air in the UK the same time they are airing in the U.S. It’s simply greed and politics which keep that from happening. That’s just my opinion...

Doesn’t help either that when TV shows are released over here on DVD boxsets, that they are rdiculously priced. Who the hell can afford to pay out £79.99 every time a series is released?

It may be true that more and more people from the UK are downloading from BitTorrent (and I’m one of them), but there are also advantages for the industry because of this. If it wasn’t for BitTorrent, I would have never discovered the brilliance of such shows as Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me, which never aired here, and I consequently purchased them on DVD as soon as they were released (which I will be doing again as soon as Veronica Mars gets a release). I sure I’m not alone in doing this. Instead of constantly complaining about the situation, the industry should devise a way to use BitTorrent to their advantage.

From season 7 of Buffy and Season 4 of Angel I downloaded every episode. I’m a die hard Buffyverse fan and I don’t have Sky TV so I’d have to wait a year too get the heavily edited version of Buffy season 7 on terrostrial TV and wait years hoping that they’d finally show Angel. I wasn’t going to wait!

I downloaded all the episodes watched them then deleted them. No harm done. I want to show my appreciation to artists and TV show’s so I normally buy album and have since bought all the Buffy and Angel DVD’s.

Like someone said in highstreet stores over here they I reidulously over priced...£80($155) for one boxset. In america you could buy four or 5 seasons of Angel of Buffy and Angel with that. A great example I know some American fans who payed $17(£9) for Bufft Season 7 from Walmart or some other shop I also know some Englaish fans who payed £80($155) from WHSmiths. Ridiculous difference!!!

For people in England who like me couldnt afford the DVD’s go here: www.cd-wow.com they sell all the Buffy and Angel seasons for around £30($55) thats as cheap as we are gonna get them over here. They offer both Region 1 and Region 2 versions. I bought the Region 1 versions as they look better plus one has an extra commentary and I wanted the set to look right so I bought them all. Also go to ebay.co.uk and search for them but add an R1 after the "buffy season 4" or whatever you put in then you can find the region 1 DVD’s sold by someone whoo lives in England. The DVD’s(excluding Buffy 1) that are sold there go for £18-£28(buffy 1 - £10) that’s actually where I got about 9 of them and only bought the later seasons from cd-wow.com.

Wow that took a while. Hope this gets posted!!
