Underground Darlings Rock Stars Hollow (seth green mention)

Wednesday 10 May 2006, by Webmaster

Perhaps it was inevitable for a show that coyly featured Sebastian Bach in a recurring role, re-enacted Anton (Brian Jonestown Massacre) Newcombe’s infamous showcase meltdown, had a character go gaga over a new XTC single and featured non-related Phillipses Sam (on the soundtrack) and Grant-Lee (as the town troubadour), but the May 9 season finale of the WB’s Gilmore Girls featured a veritable indie-rock convention.

When troubadour Grant departed Stars Hollow for a “big time” gig with Neil Young, the town square was covered with troubadour wannabees. In addition to the pre-hyped appearance of Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth (with daughter Coco on Gibson SG), Joe Pernice, Yo La Tengo, Sparks, Mary Lynn Rajskub and Sam Phillips all busked on air to the delight of the sharp-eyed music snob. And you thought The O.C. was the hippest show on the air? Seth Green, make way for Lorelai Gilmore.
