Whedonverse Stars list for San Diego Comic-Con 2010

Wednesday 9 June 2010, by Webmaster

Things that we know about the panels at San Diego Comic-Con 2010 just got a big shot in the arm this week from a few interested journalists who love digging around for such things:

Jeffrey Wells mentions that SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD will probably screen there, and at the very least a preview reel, if not a full screening, of TRON: LEGACY will be the other huge movie fanboy attraction.

Seat42F has begun keeping a handy list which they will continue to update as panels are announced.

Both Charlaine Harris and Joe Manganiello confirmed in their recent interviews with fansite True-Blood.Net that there is going to be a SDCC panel for TRUE BLOOD. Well, duh. ;)

The big announcement about TORCHWOOD this week has us wondering if there will be a panel this year? Too early?

BEING HUMAN’s second season premieres in the US during Comic-Con (July 24), and BBC America brought the cast to the con 2 years ago. Surely they are planning another trip this year?

SyFy Channel digital department exec Craig Engler has mentioned on twitter this spring that CAPRICA will be at the con. There is still no actual confirmation of it, but given that season 1.5 is airing this fall, it makes plenty of sense. Please, Polly Walker, please come to this one!

But the motherlode of news for us TV fans came from Maureen Ryan yesterday, who revealed a massive list of confirmed TV panels for this year’s event, including SONS OF ANARCHY, SPARTACUS BLOOD & SAND, ARCHER, CASTLE, HAWAII FIVE-O, and a bunch of others. So basically, we may be looking at a situation this year where Katey Sagal, Lucy Lawless, Nathan Fillion, Alex O’Loughlin and Grace Park will grace the con with their glorious presence. Good times.

PS: for you Truebies out there, we also want to make sure you are aware of the great TRUE BLOOD actors heading to Dragon-Con this September: Sam Trammell, Nelsan Ellis, Michelle Forbes, and Kristin Bauer are all announced guests. Fun!

Update 1:30pm: news today of a panel happening for AMC’s new zombie series WALKING DEAD, via a tweet from a journalist visiting the set.

Update 9:30pm: Maureen Ryan has just updated her full list, with additions such as GLEE, DEXTER, BONES, EUREKA, FRINGE, FUTURAMA, SUPERNATURAL, and the new Steven Spielberg-produced dinosaur/time-travel show TERRA NOVA. Seat42F has updates including NO ORDINARY FAMILY, NIKITA, THE EVENT, and THE CAPE.

Update 10pm: The Live Feed has made their own list, which adds even more new titles – V, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, a ton of Cartoon Network/Adult Swim shows including ROBOT CHICKEN, TIM & ERIC, and AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE — and wonders if TBS might have Conan O’Brien make a visit to the Con this year!

Update 6/9 1pm: The Live Feed also now says that HBO’s GAME OF THRONES and J.J. Abrams’ UNDERCOVERS “are not expected to have their own panels” this year. From a marketing perspective, HBO is probably wanting to do their first GoT event at Comic-con in 2011 when the show will premiere.
