Whedonverse.org Donation Challenge Grant

Saturday 2 July 2005, by Webmaster

Are you a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel the Series and/or Firefly? Would you like to share your love for these shows with others?

The Whedonverse Multimedia Project seeks to bring these shows to public libraries and other charitable organizations that have requested them for their collections. All funds donated to the Project (minus Paypal’s fees) go toward providing these materials. So far the Project has provided materials to libraries in 9 different cities and there are currently 9 more places on our waiting list.

Soon, your donation dollars will go even further than they have in the past.

A very generous fan has issued a challenge to his fellow Whedonverse aficionados, if fans can raise $200 from July 1 - 15, he will match it with a $200 donation of his own. “I am doing this because I really believe in this project,” says the donor, who wishes to remain anonymous. The fan has been a strong supporter of the Project ever since the early days of the campaign and hopes to encourage other fans to participate in any way they can.

There are a number of ways fans can help:

• Make a financial contribution to the Project.
• Donate items directly your local library, youth program, hospital or other charitable organization.
• Download one of our flyers and print it out to hand-out or post on bulletin boards.
• Share news items posted on the site with other Whedon-related fan groups.

Anything fans can do to help is appreciated. Many of our donations are in amounts as small as $5. In addition, several fans have chosen to participate by donating books and other items they already had on hand to the library in their local community and listing them in our online tally. Simply getting the word out to other fans is an extremely beneficial and affordable way to lend us a hand.

By working together, we can show support and say thanks to Joss Whedon and all the writers, cast and crew who brought the shows to life.
