Couldn’t the writers of Smallville come up with a more original script idea than that. Talk about rehashing a good project. It will probably turn out lame. How dare they imply anything connected with the Whedonverse theme when Smallville has no relation at all to the subject matter.

Wow. I mean, everyone knows Smallville has a huge Buffy influence and I always find pathetic when some show’s creator doesn’t admit it’s influences. They never, ever talked about something like "yeah, Buffy’s set the teen-hero-metaphor on TV, so we really owe some to it". We can see Buffy’s legacy everywhere in the show, especially in the monster-metaphor-of-the-week Buffy created and Smallville copied (a bad adaptation that doesn’t sound fresh at all. but that’s not the point). Smallville is a very flawed show, but has some great highs, so I’m a fan, and I’m very happy they finally made some reference to the show that made room for them to exist. PS.: The idea is actually very funny, and if it was a "normal" show, it’d be terrible to mix vampires in. But it’s Smallville, who never really figured out what road to take.

gota say smallville is looking desperate. the ’buffy sanders’ plot, adding james marsters and then adding the ’chosen’ theme to a clip/episode. hello?! anyone else seeing a desperate pattern?

It could be taken as a corny rip-off but i’d like to think of it as a shout-out to the fact that james is on the show at the same time there’s another separate buffy reference. i’m sad. i still miss buffy a lot.

Ooh and isn’t a there going to be a witch named Willow Goldberg coming later on in the season? And Didn’t I hear that Clark Kent would be getting a little brother named Shawn?

You guys are aware that the person who is writing/wrote this episode is Stephen S. DeKnight, a former "Buffy" writer, right?

I don’t know if some of you people realize that some of the people who worked on Buffy and Angel also happen to work on Smallnille. The biggest influence has probably come from Stephen DeKnight, i believe. The story lines do sound similar, but every good storyline has come from something before it.

haha! i find that really amusing! that actress, Brooke Nevin, used to play Rachel from Animorphs in 1999 and from a book i read from somewhere, she is actually a fan of BtVS! what a coincidence that she’s playing a vampire named "Buffy"!

I think it’s a wonderful way to pay tribute a great show. Without BTVS, there would be no Smallville (or Supernatural, or Dawson’s Creek, or insert-WB-show-here...) I think it’s also a way of Smallville’s creators stabbing at the WB for cancelling Angel. Those shows did well off of each other and I think Smallville’s peeps know that if Angel could get cancelled, so could they.

I am trying to understand why they would want to reference another show, when the focus should be entirely on the FINALE SEASON OF SMALLVILLE, ya that’s right, season 5 is the final season. Does this sounds familiar?
