There has been talk over this past weekend that popular guest actor Mark Sheppard would be appearing in the next series of Doctor Who. Pop Culture Zoo has been able to confirm with BBC America that the rumors are indeed true. Not only that, we have a name for his character: Canton Everett Delaware III. Sounds like an American name, which is fitting since Sheppard will be in the opening two-part episode, slated to be partly filmed in Utah and take place in the US. The US convention ValleyCon 36 have reported that the actor Mark Sheppard has had to pull out of their event this weekend due to new work commitments on Doctor Who. Their press release states:

Busy, busy, busy...
So.... It appears that 2009 is going to be an interesting year for me! Started work on the Dean Devlin/TNT series "Leverage" starring Timothy Hutton... great role, the show starts December 7th... I will make an entrance a couple of episodes in. "Dollhouse" has been a wonderful reunion for me... great show and cast, I think this Whedon fellow may have a future in this business. A remake of 1970s TV series The Bionic Woman, starring former UK soap actress Michelle Ryan, has made its US debut with 13.9 million viewers.
The show had a bigger audience than any other programme in its timeslot, and proved NBC's biggest midweek premiere since The West Wing began in 1999.
Ryan, who played Zoe Slater in EastEnders until 2005, beat off other Hollywood competition to land the role.

NEW YORK - Apple Inc. escalated a dispute with NBC Universal over the pricing of television shows by announcing Friday it would not sell any of NBC's programs for this fall season on iTunes.
