Scores of Joss Whedon fans were disappointed to hear that his latest show, 'Dollhouse' has been canceled by Fox. We'll get to see the remaining episodes, and they had the news in time to wrap up the story, but that's cold comfort for most of us. We caught up with star Eliza Dushku on the red carpet for the US Weekly Hot Hollywood event, where she was being honored as "Cult Fave of the Year". While she dashed our hopes of 'Dollhouse' continuing in comic book form, she said she'd like to be part of the upcoming 'Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog' sequel, and that her Robert Mapplethorpe biopic (which she has been working on for eight years) is finally getting made.

So I'm one of the 'Dollhouse' fans who are really upset about the cancelation announcement. Is there any chance at all that you guys would consider moving it to another network ?

"I don't know. I mean, I'm going to say I don't think so. I feel like we're probably going to wrap it up for people at the end of this second season. We had time to sort of see where we wanted to close things off, but...I think this is going to be it. We're really proud of it. And I feel like two seasons to live on is better than the one would have been. And we're grateful for that, that we got to come back and play some more and bring some more to the fans."

I had asked you a year or so ago if you'd want to do the 'Dr. Horrible' sequel when Joss Whedon does that. And you said yes. Is that still something you'd be interested in ?

"Absolutely ! If Joss calls me after this. [laughs] But no, really I would love to, and Jed (Whedon) and Maurissa (Tancharoen) are so talented and so much fun. And if we all... if it comes about, I would love to audition. [laughs]"

So will Echo (Dushku's character on 'Dollhouse') be living on in comic form like Faith (her character in 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer') is ?

"I don't know. I think I heard Joss once say that he didn't think 'Dollhouse' would sort of go into the comic world successfully, but you never know."

And what do you have coming up next ?

"We're working on this Robert Mapplethorpe biopic that I'm producing with my brother and some other really phenomenal people, film makers. It's really moving along. And then we have some other Boston Diva productions that will be announced in 2010."

'Spider-Man 4' Black Cat Casting : What About Eliza Dushku ?

Sure, Anne Hathaway is the latest in a long line of rumored contenders for the role of Black Cat in "Spider-Man 4" (even though there's no confirmation the character is even in the film), but does anyone remember another rumor from a few years back that cast an entirely different actress in the role ?

Well, even if you didn't remember the pre-"Spider-Man 3" rumor that had "Dollhouse" actress Eliza Dushku playing cat burglar Felicia Hardy, we did — and we asked her about it when she dropped by Splash Page HQ a while back.

"Don't you love the Internet and the fans out there ?" Dushku laughed when MTV Movies Editor Josh Horowitz asked if she'd seen the fan-made "Spider-Man 4" posters with her as Black Cat. "They do it up !"

While Dushku didn't seem to have heard from anyone in the "Spider-Man 4" camp at that point (the interview was conducted last month), she seemed more than willing to suit up in the character's skin-tight costume, given the chance.

"Would you like to see me not just superimposed, but as Black Cat ?" asked Dushku.

Well, when Eliza Dushku asks you a question like that, the answer is obvious : an emphatic "Yes."

"Okay, well, tell your friends - write a letter," she laughed.

So, there you go, folks. Do we have another name to add to the list of Black Cat hopefuls ? Heck, there's at least as much support for this rumor as there is for the rest of the "Spider-Man 4" rumors, so...

Actress ELIZA DUSHKU has banned herself from talking about her love of hunting elk - after animal activists compared the star to a serial killer.

Dushku came under fire earlier this year (09) from bosses at People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), after revealing she loves stalking prey with a bow and arrow.

The actress admits animal lovers are still angered by her confession, so she has given up defending her hobby.

She explains, “I've only ever hunted to eat what I kill. I think that's the right way to do things…

“I'm a liberal from New England. I grew up an animal lover. I like the mechanics of some weapons and guns. (I said in an interview) I bow hunt and then PETA called me Jeffrey Dahmer. I'm trying not to talk about it too much.”
