American Pie star Jason Biggs gets a kick out of wearing boxer shorts his wife's ex used to wear.

The actor, who wed Jenny Mollen in April, admits he found the briefs lying around one day and decided to try them on for size - and now he has claimed them.

He tells Playboy magazine, "She saw me wearing them, and she was like, `You know, those are Drew's.' I don't care. He broke them in, and they fit me perfectly.

"I wore them on our honeymoon."

Paramount Home Entertainment has officially announced Cloverfield which stars Lizzy Caplan, Jessica Lucas, TJ Miller. The Matt Reeves directed monster flick will be available to own from the 22nd April, and should retail at around $27.95. The film itself will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. Extras will include a commentary by Director Matt Reeves, 4 featurettes (The Making of Cloverfield, Cloverfield Visual Effects, I Saw It ! It's Alive ! It's Huge, and Clover Fun), 6 additional scenes (Congrats Rob, When You're in Japan, I Call That a Date, It's Going to Hurt, Alt Ending #1, Alt Ending #2), and multiple eastereggs. We have no word on a Blu-ray release at this time.

Drew Goddard was raised in Los Alamos, New Mexico. He attended the University of Colorado, and worked as a production assistant in L.A. after graduation. A spec script Drew wrote based on Six Feet Under came to the attention of both Marti Noxon at Buffy and David Greenwalt at Angel. Both wanted him, but because Marti found him first Joss Whedon determined Drew would go to Buffy. He became a staff writer for Season 7 (2002-2003), writing five episodes. Once Buffy was over, Drew moved over to Angel and became the executive story editor for Season 5 (2003-2004), writing four episodes. Drew also found time to write the introduction for a book of essays about Buffy, Seven Seasons of Buffy, and to contribute two stories to the Tales of the Vampires comic series. In the summer of 2003, Drew received his first screenwriting award, along with co-writer Jane Espenson, when the Hugos honored "Conversations with Dead People" from Buffy with an award for Best Dramatic Presentation/Short Form. Drew Goddard only wrote for cult series Buffy the Vampire Slayer for one season (the show's seventh, and final, year) but in that short time he accumulated a truly staggering number of "minions" in the (notoriously fanatical) on-line Buffy fan community. Websites were set up exclusively to promote Drew, t-shirts were printed (in English and Swedish) and Drew himself made semi-frequent visits to Buffy websites and message boards.

Paramount sows 'Cloverfield' sequel

Matt Reeves to direct 'Invisible Woman'

Matt Reeves is in early talks with Paramount to direct a "Cloverfield" sequel, and he has also made a deal with GreeneStreet Films to direct "The Invisible Woman."

Timing of the projects will depend on how quickly Paramount can complete discussions with Reeves, producer J.J. Abrams and scribe Drew Goddard to scare up another monster tale for the "Cloverfield" sequel. There's a good chance the sequel will be Reeves' next film, in which case he will direct "The Invisible Woman" afterward.

"Woman" is a Hitchcock-style thriller that probes the mind of a former beauty queen who turns to a life of crime to protect her family.

Reeves wrote the script and will produce with Abrams and GreeneStreet's John Penotti, Fisher Stevens and Tim Williams.

"Matt has created a truly original and compelling character and story," said GreeneStreet's Penotti.

GreeneStreet will finance "The Invisible Woman," and GreeneStreet Intl. will sell overseas territories.

With a $25 million budget, a strong concept and cast of unknowns, "Cloverfield" scored a $46 million opening frame, which was a record for a Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. Paramount gave away almost no first-dollar gross, making the film a bargain for the studio.

GreeneStreet recently completed two films : the John Polson-directed "Tenderness," starring Russell Crowe, which was just set for distribution at Lionsgate, and "Bill," directed by Melisa Wallack and Bernie Goldmann, whichwill be distributed by First Look Studios.

'Cloverfield' pulls down monster $41M

LOS ANGELES - The creature-feature "Cloverfield" became the first monster hit released in 2008, debuting with $41 million, a record opening for January, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Paramount's tale of a giant reptile causing chaos in New York City surpassed the $35.9 million premiere weekend of the "Star Wars" special edition in 1997, the previous best for January.

Opening in second-place was 20th Century Fox's romantic comedy "27 Dresses," starring Katherine Heigl as a perpetual bridesmaid. It pulled in $22.4 million.

The weekend's other new wide release, Overture Films' crime comedy "Mad Money," with Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes plotting a Federal Reserve Bank heist, opened at No. 7 with $7.7 million.

Overall business surged, with the top-12 movies taking in $135.3 million, up 39 percent from the same weekend last year.

Featuring a cast of unknowns, "Cloverfield" tells its monster story from the perspective of a partygoer's hand-held video camera, which captures the mayhem as the creature tears through the city.

The film benefited from cryptic marketing that sent young moviegoers on a scavenger hunt to decode clues about the movie's plot, images and even its title, which was not confirmed until shortly before its release.

"As we started it, we asked, how do we draw people in and have them say, `Hey, I want to know more about that. That looked cool, that looked intriguing,'" said Rob Moore, Paramount vice chairman. "Then fortunately, they delivered a movie that was as unique and engaging as people had hoped from the marketing campaign."

The big winners at the previous weekend's truncated Golden Globes had mixed results cashing in on their prizes.

Focus Features' gloomy romance "Atonement," the Globe winner for best drama, expanded into wider release and added $4.8 million to its haul, raising its total to $31.9 million. Business was up slightly from the previous weekend.

Yet the Globes' best musical or comedy winner, Paramount's "Sweeney Todd : The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," also added theaters but took in just $2.6 million, down significantly from a weekend earlier. "Sweeney Todd" has taken in $48 million to date.

The televised Globes banquet was canceled because stars planned to boycott the show in support of a strike by the Writers Guild of America, which refused to let its members work on the ceremony. In place of the glitzy Globes show was a hasty news conference rattling off winners' names.

That deprived studios of much of the luster they count on to boost the box office of acclaimed films during awards season. Had the three-hour Globes show aired as usual on NBC, "Atonement," "Sweeney Todd" and other key winners might have done better business this weekend.

"I can only guess, but I think so," said Jack Foley, head of distribution for Focus Features. "I wish it was televised. It's one of the best commercials there is for film."

Following Heigl's success with last summer's hit "Knocked Up," "27 Dresses" solidifies the "Grey's Anatomy" co-star as a big-screen star.

While "Cloverfield" was more a movie for young males, "27 Dresses" sewed up the women's audience, the two films giving Hollywood a huge lift during what is normally a sleepy time for new releases.

"This is almost like a summer weekend," said 20th Century Fox distribution executive Chris Aronson. "It's almost a counter-programming move where you have two pictures aimed squarely, at least initially, at different audiences, and they both succeeded."

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Media By Numbers LLC. Final figures will be released Tuesday.

Wanna Know A Little More About CLOVERFIELD ?! Like, Say, Who's Directing It ?!

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.

It's funny... I'm getting letters now from other webmasters saying that they're getting yelled at for publishing anything about this film. Yet so far, I haven't heard one word back from Bad Robot or Paramount, and we're the one place these stories have been breaking. We were the ones who first told you that it's a giant monster movie featuring something that's being called “The Parasite” at the moment. We're the ones who told you that Drew Godard is writing the film. We brought you the first descriptions of the teaser trailer that will be attached to the prints of TRANSFORMERS everyone will be seeing next week.

And now... now we can tell you who is directing the film. It's amazing to me how secretive this one is. Personally, I think it sounds great, and all the stuff I've heard about the script and the designs for the monster and the work they've been doing on the Paramount lot and over at the offices on Cloverfield (the reason for the fake title, no doubt) makes me think this is going to be one groovy movie.

Matt Reeves, a writer on FELICITY, whose only feature film so far is THE PALLBEARER with David Schwimmer and Gwenyth Paltrow, is the man who will be calling the shots onset. There are a lot of Bad Robot alumni involved in this one, but Reeves is the guy I'm most interested in at the moment. He's directed episodes of shows like FELICITY, CONVICTION, HOMICIDE, and RELATIVITY, and he was the guy who directed the pilot for MIRACLES in 2003. I love the notion of a giant monster movie that's all being shot from the POV of handheld video cameras, like a real event unfolding, and I wish him well with this one.

Now I just need to see that teaser finally. Remember... when you see it, there's no title on it yet. That's because the film doesn't have a name at the moment, or if it does, that's been kept completely hush-hush. For now, CLOVERFIELD is just what they're calling it to help confuse the issue. I'm itching for someone over there to finally break their silence and speak up, ‘cause I'd love to know more. For now, here's the tip I got today :

CLOVERFIELD, the hush hush sci-fi flick, is being directed by Matt Reeves. Matt Reeves, if you recall was creator of Felicity and screenwriter of such films as The Yards and Under Siege 2. One of the producers on this flick is Bryan Burk, a producer on LOST and Abrams' upcoming STAR TREK film.

The big news ?
Jack, Kate and Sawyer are wholly absent this week. (Maybe for the first episode ever ?) Also missing are Henry, Juliet, Tom, Danny, Alex and the other Others. Nikki, Paulo, Bernard, Rose and Jin get the week off as well. Locke, Sayid and Sun only appear in a single scene in the teaser.

Sawyer and Kate do not return to the big island this week ?
Not unless they landed on a different beach. This episode may be set before or concurrent with the events of last week's installment. As it begins, Locke is just getting around to informing Charlie and Hurley of Eko's demise way back in 3.5.

And we don't learn this week if Ben or Ben's daddy built Lostzilla, Monster of Smoke ?
Nope.

What's good ?
The very wet Claire. Desmond's (and another's) close shave. The musical echo of our first meeting with Desmond in 2.1. The flashbacks, which I suspect even a lot of the hate-iest flashback-haters will like. “This swallow is worth more than what you could make in a month.” “Every single one of us is dead.” The cricket bat. Oasis Charlie.

What's not so good ?
Viewers who think the 815ers are more interesting than The Others at this point are, candidly, nuts. I already miss Ben, Julie and Li'l Dharma Island.

Drew Goddard Writes The 100th Episode of ALIAS !!

ABC's Wednesday night lineup is now “Alias” followed by “Lost” followed by “Invasion.” That's pretty much an all-sci-fi lineup. When in the history of the big-three networks has that ever happened before ? Things are different. Next thing you know ABC won't be airing football games on Monday nights anymore.

For those who haven't heard, “Alias” has been cancelled and has six hours left to air. Tonight is the series' 100th episode, titled “There's Only One Sydney Bristow,” and it's bringing back fave season-one characters Will Tippin (Bradley Cooper) and Anna Espinosa (Gina Torres). Will's been back before. After leaving at the end of season two he came back for one episode midway through season three. My recollection is it was a pretty big letdown.

Anna's been back too. The Cuban superspy returned for a two-parter in season four. Again, a pretty unspecial reappearance as far as I remember. But tonight is also the 100th episode. And to write it they got a top TV writers, “Buffy”-“Angel”-“Lost” vet Drew Goddard, he of “Selfless” and “Conversations With Dead People” fame (he is also joining the staff of “Lost” on a permanent basis next season). So this could add up to something plenty swell, yes ?

8 p.m. Wednesday. ABC.
